Chess In Slums Health Program in Memory of Matthew.
The recent passing of one of our young champions in Makoko, Mathew, in December 2023 deeply affected the Chess in Slums, Africa community.
This loss underscored the critical need for access to healthcare and preventive measures in the marginalized community.
Determined to effect change, as part of our collaboration with Health Insured Nigeria, we organized a free healthcare outreach program on Saturday, February 24th, 2024.
Conducted at Whayinna School, Makoko, Lagos, the program catered to 400 families, offering them complimentary health screenings, health insurance enrollment, and first aid training.
While the quantifiable data tells a story of 400 families directly impacted, the true success lies in the intangible. The outreach fostered a sense of unity within the community, all striving for a brighter, healthier future.
The beaming smiles on the faces of children and parents reflected not only gratitude for the immediate assistance but also hope for a future devoid of preventable illnesses.
Chess in Slums, Africa remains steadfast in its commitment to the well-being of young individuals. The organization intends to sustain its partnerships and broaden its outreach efforts, with the goal of ensuring every child in the community has access to the security and protection offered by health insurance.
We express our gratitude to the following organizations for their contributions to this impactful initiative:
