Reseña del torneo semanal de Chess Brothers: "960 maneras de iniciar"
Hemos alcanzado cinco rondas de alta intensidad, cinco válidas cargadas de mucha euforia en la comunidad ajedrecista de Hive. Los jugadores están desplegando una actividad bastante interesante en el tablero y se preparan para lo que será el ultimo tercio de esta temporada. La tabla de resultados sigue oscilando y en esta última fase del torneo veremos si los líderes pueden retener su dominio o si los perseguidores inmediatos tendrán su momento de gloria.
Standing de la 5ta ronda en Lichess
Pero antes de hacer cualquier tipo de predicción vamos a dar un repaso a los hechos concretos. Veamos que sucedió en la recien jugada 5ta ronda de la liga, la cual ha brillado y se distingue de las anteriores por una interesante razón.
Como de costumbre la selección del formato y ritmo de juego fue definido por la comunidad a través de Dpoll. En esta oportunidad, los participantes decidieron jugar el relativamente inusual Ajedrez 960, también conocido como Fischer Random o simplemente Ajedrez Fischer, en honor a la leyenda del deporte (Robert "Bobby" Fischer) que sentó un ante y un despues en la historia de las 64 casillas. Si no sabes de que se trata este formato de juego te lo explicamos rapidamente.
Ajedrez 960
La posición inicial del tablero está definida y todos sabemos cuál es la formación de las piezas antes de realizar la primera jugada. Sin embargo, al jugar un torneo de Ajedrez 960, no se sabe con certeza en qué lugar se colocaran las piezas al principio... Como si el ajedrez no fuera lo suficientemente complicado ya, ¿no? Al jugar ajedrez 960, la posición inicial puede variar entre 960 posibilidades.

La verdad es que esto representó una especie de revolución, en parte debido al elevadísimo número de posiciones que este nuevo ajedrez traería consigo. De hecho, el ajedrez normal posee un numero absurdo de variantes tomando como base la posición inicial tradicional, que es una sola. ¡Imaginen cómo será con 960 posibles maneras de configurar inicialmente las piezas!
Ahora bien, ¿a qué se debe este invento? ¿Por qué modificar las reglas del ajedrez y obtener esta variante? Esto tiene una justificación bastante razonable. Fischer mismo sugirió que el ajedrez estaba tendiendo a un punto en el que la preparación de aperturas secaría la esencia del juego mismo, donde los jugadores (sobre todo los profesionales), hacen un estudio de aperturas demasiado extensivo que les ofrece muchas oportunidades de conseguir un resultado deseado.
De tal manera que con esta variante de Ajedrez 960, el estudio de la fase inicial de la partida perdería gran parte de su sentido y el poder de cálculo y entendimiento de ajedrez de los jugadores serían los factores predominantes, pues los jugadores tendrían que enfrentarse ae structuras inéditas prácticamente aleatorias. Aunque si se ha de mencionar que la teoría de los finales sí prevalece intacta, tal como sugirió uno de los participantes en el el chat del torneo, por cierto.
Evidentemente, aún el ajedrez no ha llegado al punto de que se tenga que implementar de manera forzosa la modalidad de Ajedrez 960. De hecho, a algunos jugadores no les parece que les termine de gustar esa idea de la aleatoriedad al iniciar una partida. Pero, como todo en la vida, hay que tener conocimiento y darle un vistazo para poder dar un veredicto crítico. Ya veremos en los próximos años cómo evoluciona este novedosa forma de juego.

Es importante señalar que el rating promedio se ubicó en el rango de los 1600 y esto se debe a que el Ajedrez 960 no es tan practicado por la mayoría de participantes ni por la población de jugadores de Lichess, de hecho, lo cul. Por tanto, los numéros decrecen en este sentido de las estadísticas.
Un momento interesante
Como siempre vamos a realizar el respectivo análisis de uno de los momentos más interesantes durante el torneo. Nuevamente, @lucianosky se luce y logra exprimir al máximo una estructura al estilo clásico. La partida de la que hablamos se disputó con la siguiente posición inicial:

A pesar de partir de una posición alocada y de unas cuantas escaramuzas, se logró llegar a la situación en donde las cosas están algo “tranquilas”, donde las blancas se percatan del plan estratégico a seguir y basan su juego en dicho enfoque: la debilidad en d6 (ver siguiente diagrama).

Llegado este momento del mediojuego se pueden hacer ciertas valoraciones tomando en cuenta los conceptos posicionales del juego. En este caso, las blancas están claramente mejor, pues la ventaja de espacio es indiscutible. En este mediojuego la lucha incluye alfiles de distinto color, pero el alfil de las blancas es mejor que su contrario, pues la sólida formación de los peones centrales blancos obstruye el rango de visión del alfil de las negras.
Además, el peón en d6 es una debilidad que resulta muy vulnerable y las blancas no tardaron en explotarla. Punto a destacar es que dicho peón carece de una pieza menor que lo proteja, por lo que, de manera muy instructiva, las blancas procedieron a incrementar la presión al doblar sus torres en la columna abierta y pues no tardaron en transformar esa ventaja en un punto completo. Chess Brothers Weekly Tournament Review: "960 Ways to Start"
We have reached five rounds of high intensity, five rounds full of euphoria in the Hive chess community. The players are displaying quite an interesting activity on the board and are preparing for what will be the last third of this season. The scoreboard continues to swing and in this last phase of the tournament we will see if the leaders can retain their dominance or if the immediate pursuers will have their moment of glory.

But before making any predictions, let's take a look at the facts. Let's see what happened in the recently played 5th round of the league, which has shined and stands out from the previous ones for an interesting reason.
As usual, the selection of the format and rhythm of the game was defined by the community through Dpoll. On this occasion, the participants decided to play the relatively unusual Chess 960, also known as Fischer Random, in honor of the legend of the sport (Robert "Bobby" Fischer) who established a before and after in the history of the 64 squares. If you do not know what this game format is about, we will explain it to you quickly.
Chess 960
The initial position of the board is defined and we all know what is the formation of the pieces before making the first move. However, when playing a 960 Chess tournament, you don't know for sure where the pieces will be placed at the beginning? As if chess wasn't complicated enough already, right? When playing 960 chess, the starting position can vary among 960 possibilities.

The truth is that this represented a kind of revolution, partly due to the very high number of positions that this new chess would bring with it. In fact, normal chess has an absurd number of variations based on the traditional starting position, which is only one. Imagine what it will be like with 960 possible ways to initially set the pieces!
Now, what is the reason for this invention? Why change the rules of chess and get this variation? This has a quite reasonable justification. Fischer himself suggested that chess was tending to a point where opening preparation would dry up the essence of the game itself, where players (particularly professionals) study the openings extensively and it offers them many opportunities to achieve a desired result.
In such a way that with this variant of Chess 960, the study of the initial phase of the game would lose much of its meaning and the calculation power and understanding of chess of the players would be the predominant factors, since the players would have to face e practically random unpublished structures. Although it should be mentioned that the endgame theory does prevail intact, as suggested by one of the participants in the tournament chat, by the way.
Obviously, chess has not yet reached the point where the 960 Chess mode has to be implemented by force. In fact, some players do not seem to like the idea of randomness at the start of a game. But, like everything in life, you have to have knowledge and take a look at it to be able to give a critical verdict. We will see in the coming years how this new way of playing evolves.

It is important to note that the average rating was in the 1600 range and this is due to the fact that 960 Chess is not as widely practiced by the majority of participants nor by the population of Lichess players, in fact. Therefore, the numbers decrease in this sense of the statistics.
An interesting moment
As always, we are going to analyze one of the most interesting moments during the tournament. Once again, @lucianosky shines and manages to squeeze the most out of a classical style structure. The game we are talking about was played with the following starting position:

Despite starting from a crazy position and a few skirmishes, we managed to reach a situation where things are somewhat "calm", where White realizes the strategic plan to follow and bases his game on this approach: the weakness on d6 (see following diagram).

At this point in the middlegame certain evaluations can be made taking into account the positional concepts of the game. In this case, White is clearly better, since the space advantage is indisputable. In this middlegame the fight involves different colored bishops, but White's bishop is better than its opposite, as the solid formation of the white central pawns obstructs the range of vision of Black's bishop.
In addition, the pawn on d6 is a weakness that is very vulnerable and White was quick to exploit it. Point to note is that the pawn lacks a minor piece to protect it, so, very instructively, White proceeded to increase the pressure by doubling his rooks on the open column and soon transformed that advantage into a full point.
