Memoir Monday #39. A family car
Greetings friends of the [Silver Blogger] community, I'm going to share my experiences for Memoirmonday №39, promoted by @ericvancewalton.
When we are children we have an imagination that can withstand anything, we can even have spaceships, all we need is something to motivate us. I used to play with dolls, as a girl, but I was also motivated by games related to cars, and I imagined that one day I would have one of my own, I would turn the dining room chairs around or use the bottom part of the pedal sewing machine to pretend it was a car and with my imagination I would travel places, it was all very easy.
But this motivation did not last throughout my life, the prices of cars made them inaccessible to me. I had in mind to consolidate other dreams. I knew people who were into specific models and I could barely tell one Volkswagen from another, now that I think about it, the first vehicle I remember from my childhood was one of these blue ones my dad had.
I was amazed when people could find beauty in cars and I couldn't tell one car from another. It's something that happens to me now with mobile devices, when people say: what a beautiful phone! I can't understand how a device can be beautiful, for me beauty is in plants, in nature in general, the faces of children, some animals, it's other things; but not in metal creations.
Years ago I told the father of my children that if we added our salaries we could buy a car, it was what we used to do since we had a family, we combined the earnings and solved the problems at home and at that time my finances made me see that a car could get to the house and he took me at my word and we bought a Corsa.
I tried to learn to drive and I managed to drive it a few kilometers; but it wasn't something I liked, it caused me too much stress having to be aware of everything, I was used to only looking out the windows. One day I said: "you have to keep an eye on the sky when you drive a vehicle," and that opinion seems to have been heard, because at that moment an electric power cable fell and we had to brake suddenly.
That vehicle was in the house, it was the car that my son, my son-in-law, and my father could use to solve the different problems that could arise in terms of transportation. It was a family car.
We traveled to different states, it was good to buy it, later with my payment when I retired from the university, where I worked, I bought a Fiat Palio with the help of my son-in-law. I didn't drive it either, but I enjoyed the trips we made with the family.

These cars gave us good times on the road and we solved many situations in daily life to move from one place to another, until the situation in the country worsened to such an extent that these vehicles became scrap and are no longer there. Sometimes I think about a change of things that would make me think about these things. I think I would help again to have a family vehicle, at this age I am less prepared to drive. I think that driving is not something that everyone can do, if more people understood this, there would be fewer road accidents.

I agree with you, my friend! Like you, I enjoy more as a passenger. I have thought that maybe it's because of the character, because of that spirit that some people have, that they don't know how to deal with the stress that some things generate. It was a pleasure. Abrazos
There are many advantages to having a car, but not having one brings a kind of independence. You don't have to deal with mechanics or have the excuse that your car broke down to avoid visiting someone. You simply do your business and get used to driving in a different way. Greetings and hugs.
It is great to experience the scenery when we drive. So yes being a passenger is a good thing!
I know people who change their demeanor when they are driving, they become grumpy fighting traffic or absorbed in themselves, concentrating on driving well. It is nice to be a passenger, but it also has its advantages. Kind regards.

I love how you used the sewing machine foot peddle as your imaginary car, can just picture it, so cute!
When we're kids, driving seems like the ultimate proof that we've grown up, right😉
However, I agree, it's way better in the passenger seat and enjoy the scenery, especially on a Ling road trip!
Lovely blog @charjaim 🤗
I've always wanted a vintage Volkswagen Beetle! You don't see them much here in America anymore but they were everywhere when I was growing up. As much as I like cars I would love to live in a place where a car wasn't needed. Public transit is bad here and everything is so spread out that an automobile is almost a necessity.
