If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?/ Memoir Monday 35

On a walk to the dunes in Santos Luzardo Park, La Soledad, Apure State. Venezuela.

This is a question that has never crossed my mind. I think this is called sedentarism.

The idea of changing places stresses me out a little. Let's say I adapt to what is known, to what is my own. I cannot imagine being outside my country for any reason. If I had to emigrate, or one of my people did, I would feel very unhappy. I like my country. It is a good territory with different climates, beautiful landscapes, which, unfortunately, has fallen for different reasons into unfavorable situations that I do not want to bring up in this post.

I think that perhaps because I have not known any other environment but this one, and I have lived surrounded by loving and kind people, I have been content with that, although I am not a conformist. There are films that have shown me other places. Italy, for example, seems to me to be an extraordinary country; but I do not know if I would find in its people the same disposition of mind that the one I know has. I know that I would not, because of culture we are all different.

I have lived many years in the plains, I come and go without problems because now I live in another state where I also feel good. I know a lot of spontaneous people, who are willing to offer support when you need it, and are ready for a pleasant conversation, and I think that is one of the things that draws me to familiar places.

I often hear from migrant friends that the treatment they receive from other people in other countries is not the best, and that part is fundamentally important to me. You organize your environment in your own way, but I cannot carry a permanent bubble around me. The idea of receiving bad treatment in other regions keeps me from having such aspirations, especially at this age, which I did not do in my youth, where I never felt like getting on a plane and going to another country, and even less so now.

I have also seen and heard music from countries like Greece, and I think it would be nice to live there too. Switzerland is a very organized and safe country where I would have the comfort I deserve and dreaming costs nothing; but I would not doubt, I am sure, convinced that the best country to live in is Venezuela.

If I have the resources, and I want the cold, I can go to Mérida and stay there for a while, if I want the beach I can go to Aragua or Falcón where I have had the best time, if I want flat land and delicious food I come to Apure where I am at the moment, for reasons of illness, if I want rivers, I go to Puerto Ayacucho.

There are magical and extraordinary places in Venezuela like the Gran Sabana, or mountain formations like El Ávila, we also have dunes, savannas and Margarita Island, where I have no doubt. I would live in my country, which I am proud of despite everything.

Hi @charjaim, I absolutely know exactly what you mean, and as they say, the grass isn't always greener on the other side!
While the leaders of both our respective countries have messed up, home will always be the one place where you belong!
Nice response to Memoir Monday <3

I agree with you, my friend! Venezuela is such a wonderful country that everyone who has left it misses it. I have had the opportunity to visit the Venezuelan plain several times and I have been pleasantly impressed by its landscapes and its kind, respectful and helpful people. It is always a pleasure to meet you. A hug and take care

Yes, and I wouldn't like to live that strangeness, I'm not satisfied either, I know that everything can change, in the meantime I try not to let reality overwhelm me.

Greetings and hugs.

I share your criteria friend, I think our country has it all, beauty and human warmth. Only some people, so to speak, are the problem, but the country is not limited to that, it has much more to offer. Although my brothers are away, I would not like to leave, this is my home. I would love to go for a walk, but there is no better feeling than having a place where you belong and to come back to.
A hug.
