Dumaguete: At last!
Here I am again, sharing with you an experience when I first encountered Dumaguete City.
First off, to give you a background of what I know regarding Dumaguete. I have been hearing a lot about it from when I was in my late teenage days. I am part of a choir in church, in which there would be times we get invited to sing in different places, and I guess that's when I started discovering to myself that being able to visit places for the first time gives you an enlightening feeling and a different perspective, generally in life. Their hashtag of #DumaGetME is legit! Hahaha!!
Based on the things that I have heard from my church friends, Dumaguete is known of Siliman University and they mentioned that it is a place where there are a lot of elite people. Well, I find it very interesting, not knowing that I'll have an opportunity to not just visit this place, but have a business trip and go around places during my day off.
I was able to come and visit Dumaguete on 5th of February this year, and imagine how pandemic made me crave for this kind of experience. Luckily, I got the opportunity to visit this place because of my internship as a trainer in an airline account with the BPO industry. I was of course grateful to all of the opportunities that my company has given me, and my boss knew that I am also an adventurer, so she knew that I would enjoy working while exploring the place.
I stayed in the bricks hotel near the signage of Dumaguete in Down Town, where you'd really see a lot of foreigners and tourist being around.
I was so happy as I get there because I love that our hotel was in front of the port of Dumaguete, in front of the ocean.
I mean, everyday after work, no matter how exhausted I am, I feel renewed and refreshed being able to see the ocean, because I do love being in it too.
I really enjoyed the time that I was here. I stayed here for a month to launch a new branch that we have for my account, and by God's grace, in less than a month, I was offered to become a permanent trainer in DGT branch. I had no hesitation to be here, I feel like my dream to start over my own life with my daughter, alongside that I had a career growth were definitely God's will for me. No hindrances at all in hitting two birds in one stone.
Although my siblings and mom were worried regarding this, I guess no one will know if I didn't take the risk to follow the path I always wanted and waited for.
So, is it expensive to travel in Dumaguete from an experience of a Manila girl? Yes, if we are only talking about leaving the place of Manila, as you need to take a plane. However, once you get here everything is affordable, I would say in foods, it is expensive at some area, but 70% of the time it is cheaper, as the servings in different cuisines and restaurants are good for two persons. The price that I can compare to it in Manila, same goes with the servings? They had it better here. I have gained weight for a month that I was here, and when I came back I tried my best to lose weight. Hahahaha, well, it's basically a lifestyle for me. Although when I was here for a business trip, I only worked out the first 3 days. Hahahaha my gosh! And the rest of my 25 days were all about travelling and eating.
For travel, I can say that this is the cheap one. Even if you are contracting a motorbike or commute, it'll be cheap to get to places. Of course, one of the many things I love doing here, is when traveling without experiencing any traffic. Hahahaha!! I don't think I can still live and work with it.
I went to Valencia, Pulang Bato Fall, and Dauin. These are the common places, and the nearest places for people who wants to travel near. I just wish that I get to visit the Apo Island and Manjuyod Island. When I get the chance to come and visit this places, which I plan next year, I will be delighted to share another experience. Wohoo!!!
I hope that one day, you guys will get to visit Dumaguete, you will love the foods, the places to travel that are near, and of course the night life in Boulevard!
Much love
