The Plot

This urban legend that has been passed between cultures and generations for over 500 years is unleashed in a quiet village when some students perform the summoning of the Empty Man. The boys begin to mysteriously disappear, creating despair among the parents and anguish among the villagers. A retired policeman, with a troubled past, ends up involved in the case, investigating on his own to solve the mystery.

His investigation leads him to a cult where they worship the empty man. The policeman is totally baffled as they practice some absurd rituals where they manage to "brainwash" the members of the sect and even instigate them to suicide.

La trama

Esta leyenda urbana que ha pasado entre culturas y generaciones por más de 500 años se desencadena en un tranquilo poblado cuando unos estudiantes hacen la invocación del hombre vacío. Los muchachos comienzas a desaparecer misteriosamente, creando desesperación entre los padres y angustia entre los pueblerinos. Un policía retirado, con un pasado perturbado, termina involucrado en en caso investigando por su cuenta para resolver el misterio.

Su investigación lo lleva a una secta donde adoran al hombre vacío. El policía queda totalmente desconcertado ya que practican algunos rituales absurdos donde logran hacerle un "lavado de cerebro" a los miembros de la secta insitandolos incluso al suicidio.

What I liked about this movie

What got me from the beginning of this movie was that the main character feels persecuted and cornered and at some point in the movie he has to confront an "entity", I mean, we know this presence is here and we know it hurts people but the dilemma is how to confront it? If it is something not physical. I also liked that the story is presented, I can say that's how I perceived it, from different points of view that lead to the same ending and that's something I like about movies.

I dare to recommend this movie as I thought it even has a good ending. We know that horror movies lately leave us disappointed with the denouement, but I was very satisfied with this movie in general.

Lo que me gustó de esta película

Lo que me atrapo desde el inicio de esta película fue que el protagonista se siente perseguido y acorralado y en algún punto de la película debe enfrentar a un "ente", es decir, sabemos que está aquí esta presencia y sabemos que hace daño a las personas pero el dilema es cómo enfrentarlo? Si es algo no físico. También me gustó que la historia se presenta, puedo decir que así lo percibí yo, desde puntos de vista diferentes que llevan al mismo final y eso es algo que me gusta de las películas.

Me atrevo a recomendar esta película ya que me pareció, incluso, que tiene un buen final. Sabemos que las películas de terror últimamente nos dejan decepcionados con el desenlace, pero quedé muy satisfecha con esta película en general.

This film was written and directed by David Prior, the soundtrack was in charge of Christopher Young and the main character, the detective Jemes Lasombra, is played by James Badge Dale. We also find actresses such as Marin Ireland, Sasha Frolova and Samantha Logan.

Filmaffinity, gives this movie a rating of 5.4. But I will dare to give it a 7 since as I mentioned above the story is very coherent and fits perfectly in the beginning, the knot and the denouement so I could raise that rating.

Filmaffinity, le da una valoración de 5.4 a esta película. Pero me atreveré a darle un 7 ya que como menciono anteriormente la historia es muy coherente y encaja perfectamente en principio, el nudo y el desenlace así que podría subir esa valoración.
