Greetings architecture lovers! Today it is a pleasure for me to introduce you to an old town in my region that has as a tourist attraction its colonial design. Come with me to visit Peribeca an Andean town in the state of Táchira in Venezuela.

We left home in the morning. And we arrived at Peribeca at noon. We used GPS to help us to get there with more pressure.

The picturesque stone streets and the houses restored but keeping their colonial style with tile roofs, balconies, windows with bars and corridors with brick columns. The cold climate makes this a special place.

The church is located at the entrance of the town and in front of the Bolivar square. The church is made entirely of stone and its construction began in 1961. Next to the church is the parish house. It has a tower where the bell tower is and the entrance is guarded by some niches where you can see a couple of angels in marble.

The lamps simulate antique chandeliers and the lanterns on the walls are also seen in the houses. Next to the church there is a small boulevard where they sell handicrafts and traditional food.

The typical fruit sweets of the region and the popular "miches" which are fruit and herb drinks with a touch of alcohol. Cachapas with cheese, strawberries with cream and ice cream, are some of the traditional dishes of Peribeca.

One of the things that were restored lately, was the statue of Simon Bolivar. I think this beautiful sculpture is to be admired. The features of the face and the details of the liberator's costume are very realistic. This statue was restored or the sculptor Miguel Angel Sanchez.

Talking a little with the people of the village, they told us that the pandemic totally threatened their jobs because of the prohibition of tourism. Many of the artisans had to make sacrifices to continue paying rent for their small stores while everything remained closed. Today the sector is recovering and sales are flowing again.

Horseback riding and ATV rides are very popular, in fact at the entrance there is a stable and a track for safe rides.

The houses in the center of town take advantage of the opportunity to rent rooms as an inn and sell traditional food. So everything is very familiar and cozy.

What I love about this village is the use of stone for its constructions. It seems to me that they give an antique touch to all the buildings. Also the contrast between the mountains and the city makes the view spectacular.

I was glad you joined me on this tour of Peribeca, one of the towns with architectural beauty in Venezuela. I hope you like it and see you next time. Bye!

Visitemos Peribeca

Y llegamos a Peribeca a medio día.

Chao!

Friend @chacald.dcymt what a beautiful walk, wow! that town with that colonial architecture that is always present in our countries. It reminded me a lot when I was a few years ago in some small towns in the Páramo with cobbled streets, I like it a lot. Nice post ❤️

What a beautiful and colourful village. You are right, the stone buildings give a touch of antiquity to the village. I also imagine that this type of construction is more durable and less expensive, isn't it?
A beautiful village.

Yes, the stones are from the region so it is more economical and does not require painting. It also helps with the weather and keeps you warm inside in the cold and cool in the heat....it's a wonder. I have always wanted a stone house.

Hi @chacald.dcymt, the village of Peribeca is beautiful, I love the landscape especially the mountain and the contrast with the streets of the village, these places with country and cozy atmosphere are one of my favorites, I can disconnect from the dynamism of the city and be in contact with nature.

The bell tower of the church has a curious shape, the stone construction is simply spectacular, I loved the street with its decorative arches, definitely this nice town shows the incidence of colonial architecture in its buildings and spatial organization: thanks for sharing your visit, I virtually traveled to the state of Táchira and Peribeca, a beautiful corner of Venezuela with incredible landscapes.

Happy weekend!
