My Experience Controlling Nerves in Running and Walking Competitions

Greetings friends of Hive, today I am going to share with you how they affect the nerves, before participating in a sporting competition such as races, walks and soccer tournaments.

Since I started in the sport of athletics, specifically in street racing competitions, nerves have been present, in moments prior to the competition, but we must try to control them in order to have a better performance in competitions and any activity. sporty.

One of the things that affected me when I was new to this sport was arriving late at the start of the races, because my brother and I traveled long hours to arrive early to the place where the competition would start, but for some reason the transportation It was late, so on several occasions we arrived with ten minutes left for the game, from that moment the nerves began to get activated, apart from that we did not do the proper warm-up to be able to get out quickly in the competition.

According to these experiences, to be more calm and reduce nerves, when the competitions were in another city, we moved a day before, to remove the material such as the number, flannels and chip to participate in the competition. For this we stayed in a hotel that was close to the starting point of the competition, in this way it was easier to get to the place of departure of the event, where we have enough time to warm up and check before the game.

So it is important to rest well before the competition, because this will help us to minimize the nerves before the competition, it is normal to feel the nerves before the competition, but once we start these it disappears, what we must do is contract ourselves in the strategies that we are going to do in the competition to be able to achieve our objective.

Another experience that I have seen when nerves affect athletes is in my son's soccer practices, in these training sessions my son and the children perform their activities quickly and kick the ball with enough force, the coach prepares soccer games practice among themselves, and it is seen that they have put into practice everything they learned in training. But when they have to participate in tournaments with other teams, their performance is not the same, which means that nerves affect their performance a bit.

I think that to help my son and the children control these nerves, we should talk to them before the competition, and tell them to enjoy the game, the idea of ​​this sport is to make them feel good and try to do their best. playing as a team, to manage to score the goals towards the opposing team. On the other hand, from the stands, we as representatives of the children who play soccer, encourage them to make the plays and we applaud when they make the goals and good plays.
