Friends, the Short-Winged Rice Grasshopper or known as Oxya chinensis is a species of grasshopper that is often found in rice farming areas. This insect has a bright green body with short wings so it is easy to recognize.
Their main habitat is rice fields and wetlands, where they can reproduce well and use rice plant leaves as their main food source. Its ability to adapt to wet and fertile environments makes it an important pest of rice plants.
The short-winged rice grasshopper is considered one of the main pests of rice because it can cause significant yield losses. The damage caused includes pruning of leaves, which reduces the plants' photosynthetic ability, as well as disrupting the growth and development of rice grains.
