I had already visited the Peterlongo winery once, when I took the Maria Fumaça tour, a steam locomotive that is still in operation and runs between Bento Gonçalves and Carlos Barbosa, in Serra Gaúcha, but I had wanted to visit it for a while. again. Located in Garibaldi, a city known for its excellence in the production of sparkling wines, the Peterlongo winery has over a hundred years of history.

Founded in 1915, the industry takes its name from the founder's family, an Italian immigrant who arrived in Brazil in the first wave of immigrants from Italy in 1875. The entire region has many wineries, but Garibaldi specializes in the production of sparkling wines.

In the city, the best-known wineries are Garibaldi and Peterlongo, both with a significant production of wines and sparkling wines with millions of liters and recognized quality in the Brazilian market. By the way, Peterlongo is the only winery that is allowed to use the term Champagne outside the region of designation of origin in France.

As it is a very old winery, Peterlongo already used the term before the law that restricted the use of the name and continues to use it for its sparkling wines that use the Champenoise method, when the second fermentation takes place inside the bottle itself.

The location and history of the winery are also charming in their own right due to the stone streets and style of its architecture, which is very reminiscent of wineries in Italy. The area where the barrels and wines are stored was built entirely with stones that maintain the lowest temperature.

Eu já havia visitado a vinícola Peterlongo uma vez, quando havia feito o passeio da Maria Fumaça, locomotiva a vapor que ainda está em atividade e faz o percurso entre Bento Gonçalves e Carlos Barbosa, na Serra Gaúcha, mas fazia tempor que queria visitá-la novamente. Localizada em Garibaldi, cidade conhecida pela excelência na produção de espumantes, a vinícola Peterlongo tem mais de cem anos de História.

Fundada em 1915, a indústria leva o sobrenome da família do fundador, imigrante italiano que chegou ao Brasil na primeira leva de imigrantes da Itália em 1875. Toda a região tem muitas vinícolas, mas Garibaldi se especializou na produção de espumantes.

Na cidade, as vinícolas mais conhecidas são a Garibaldi e a Peterlongo, ambas com uma produção significativa de vinhos e espumantes com milhões de litros e qualidade reconhecida no mercado brasileiro. A propósito, a Peterlongo é única vinícola que tem permissão para utilizar o termo Champagne fora da região de denominação de origem na França.

Por ser uma vinícola muito antiga, a Peterlongo já utilizava o termo antes da lei que restringiu o uso do nome e segue utilizando para seus espumantes que utilizam o método Champenoise, quando a segunda fermentação ocorre dentro da própria garrafa.

A localização e história da vinícola também são um charme à parte por conta das ruas de pedra e estilo da sua arquitetura, que lembra muito as vinícolas da Itália. A área onde ficam as barricas e os vinhos de guarda foi construída toda com pedras que mantém a temperatura mais baixa.
