Súper 8 #FilmReview

Anoche pasaron por televisión Super 8 y me detuve a verla, pues no la conocía, increíblemente. La verdad es que la vi pues la confundí con otra, pero de todos modos fue un gran hallazgo.

Existen muchas películas geniales que le rinden tributo al cine, al hecho cinematográfico, ésta es una de ellas, a su manera le rinde homenaje a tantos cineastas que comenzaron a filmar 'películas' con sus amigos en la adolescencia. Está repleta de guiños a películas pasadas, homenajes a ese género de películas protagonizadas por muchachos y muchachas, no podía ser de otra manera, Steven Spielberg es el productor y, así vimos también una referencia a E.T. el extraterrestre. Incluso están retratados algunos hechos que no se tenía manera de conocer en 2011, el año en que fue estrenada.

Está ambientada en el año 1979, y siento que Stranger Things está inspirada en estos adolescentes y podemos ver a muchos de sus personajes retratados también, incluso el monstruo se esconde bajo la tierra. Es una película retroalimentada y que provocó mucha retroalimentación de futuras producciones. Una película redonda.

J.J. Abrams es el guionista y director y podemos sentir toda la inspiración venida de series como Fringe (de la que soy fan absoluta!) y Lost. Ya saben estos hechos que ocurren bajo las sombras a los que les damos una explicación paranormal y no es más que el ejército de los Estados Unidos queriendo ocultar lo que sabe del universo.

Casi al principio vemos a un tren descarrilarse, un sabotaje de un grupo de rebeldes que busca destapar los ocultamientos sobre los ovnis del ejército, ¿adivinen dónde ocurre? Exacto... en Ohio, este paralelismo con la actualidad me dejó impresionada. De inmediato buscan evacuar al pueblo entero y estos niños van descubriendo los oscuros secretos, hasta que dan con la verdad, yo no se si en la actualidad ocurrió así también, pero a partir del día del descarrilamiento (el actual en Ohio) comenzaron a hablar del fenómeno ovni en los noticieros del mundo, a derribarlos y a darlos por un hecho, algo que habían negado durante más de 60 años.

Los niños se ven envueltos en esta situación porque al hacer su película, se dirigieron a la estación de trenes para grabar una de las escenas, al más puro estilo de Casablanca, que termina con una despedida, pero ésta vez en una estación de tren. Allí son testigos de la explosión y así quedan irremediablemente envueltos en la trama de los seres de otros mundos.

Es una película muy divertida, sobre todo por la cacería de referencias a la que nos acostumbra. Es hermoso ver una película donde los 'monstruos' no son los malos, que los verdaderos malos son los que persiguen y acosan a estos seres, que también son sensibles. Es un homenaje a sí misma también, que nos trae de vuelta esas producciones cinematográficas de la inocencia de explorar el mundo, descubrirlo y hacerlo propio.

Las actuaciones son carismáticas y la puesta en escena es aceptable, los efectos envejecieron bien, debido a que no fueron demasiado ambiciosos con ellos, por algo tiene a Spielberg produciendo todo y dando las directrices de cómo presentar la ciencia ficción de manera creíble, divertida y hasta tierna.

Last night Super 8 was on TV and I stopped to watch it, because I didn't know it, unbelievably. The truth is that I saw it because I confused it with another one, but it was a great find anyway.

There are many great films that pay tribute to cinema, to the cinematic fact, this is one of them, in its own way pays tribute to so many filmmakers who began to shoot 'movies' with their friends in adolescence. It is full of winks to past films, tributes to that genre of films starring boys and girls, it could not be otherwise, Steven Spielberg is the producer and, so we also saw a reference to E.T. the extraterrestrial. Even some facts that we had no way of knowing in 2011, the year it was released, are portrayed.

It is set in the year 1979, and I feel that Stranger Things is inspired by these teenagers and we can see many of their characters portrayed as well, even the monster is hiding under the ground. It's a feedback movie and it sparked a lot of feedback from future productions. A rounded film.

J.J. Abrams is the screenwriter and director and we can feel all the inspiration coming from series like Fringe (of which I am an absolute fan!) and Lost. You know these events that happen under the shadows to which we give a paranormal explanation and it's nothing more than the US military wanting to hide what it knows about the universe.

Near the beginning we see a train derail, a sabotage by a group of rebels seeking to uncover the military's UFO cover-ups, guess where it happens? Exactly... in Ohio, this parallel to the present day blew me away. Immediately they seek to evacuate the whole town and these children are discovering the dark secrets, until they find the truth, I do not know if it happened that way today, but from the day of the derailment (the current one in Ohio) they began to talk about the UFO phenomenon in the news of the world, to demolish them and to give them for a fact, something that they had denied for more than 60 years.

The children get involved in this situation because when making their movie, they went to the train station to film one of the scenes, in the purest Casablanca style, which ends with a farewell, but this time in a train station. There they witness the explosion and thus become hopelessly involved in the plot of the beings from other worlds.

It is a very funny film, especially for the hunt for references to which we are accustomed. It is beautiful to see a film where the 'monsters' are not the bad guys, that the real bad guys are those who pursue and harass these beings, who are also sentient. It is a tribute to itself as well, bringing back those film productions of the innocence of exploring the world, discovering it and making it your own.

The performances are charismatic and the staging is acceptable, the effects aged well, because they were not too ambitious with them, for something has Spielberg producing everything and giving the guidelines of how to present science fiction in a credible, funny and even tender way.
