Cabalist around the Thorny way: Share your battle with Amplify

Dear Hivians!
Silver First Quest31.png
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas and hope you're having a wonderful time with your families and friends! Previously with Dragons, and now I'm trying different compositions with the Death team and one monster that caught my attention: Cabalist

Cabalist is a 7 mana with magic attacks and is the only monster that has Amplify ability at level 1!

Amplify increases reflection damage to all enemy monsters by 1 which makes this ability perform its magic on these situations:

  • Rulesets:
    • Briar Patch : All Monsters have the Thorns ability
    • Counterspell : All Monsters have the Magic Reflect ability
    • Fire & Regret : All Monsters have the Return Fire ability
  • Abilities:
    • Thorns : Does 2 damage back to melee attacks; Amplify effect: 3 damage
    • Return Fire : Damage returned is equal to damage of Ranged attacker divided by 2; Amplify effect: half damage + 1
    • Magic Reflect : Damage returned is equal to damage of Magic attacker divided by 2; Amplify effect: half damage + 1

As we said earlier, cabalist is a magic attack dealer. Althought it doesn't get the best scaling in term of stats but his abilities makes it worthy to level up and use it in certain situations:

  • Amplify at level 1
  • Giant killer at level 3 (double damage to level 10+ monsters)
  • Demoralise at level 6 (Reduce Melee Attackers damage by 1)

Cabalist current price is at $0.54 for the Regular foil card and $4.15 for the Gold Foil version while the rent is at 0.11 DEC/day for Regular Foil and 0.50 DEC/day for the Gold Foil

I advise to go for the Gold Foil rental for the higher CP/DEC ratio and more SPS per battle won.

27 Mana ; Spreading Fury Ruleset

This is a battle on the high Bronze 1 Rating Where I'm mixing both Dragons and Death Monsters on this battle. About enemy match history, last 4 battles were played with the Thaddius using 2-3 sneak monsters every battle so let's see how it goes:

My team's lineup:

CardPositionDescription
SummonerMy Legendary Dragons Summoner: Speed advantage is always key and reducing Ranged damage in case enemy decided to go for Life monsters
TankMirror Tanks with mine having a level 2 and +1 Health advantage, helps a lot surviving both attacks and Thorns damage
2ndFilled this monster after having 2 mana spare to add. Shatter is useful in it brings a monster with high armor
3rdAmplify will make Thorns damage from Cursed Windeku and Djinn Chwala deal 3 damage
Last9 Health + 5 Armor + Thorn : Bring all those sneak attacks and good luck going through all this tankiness and 14 hit points while dealing 3 reflection damage!

Round 1

As expected from enemy team, it came out with 3 sneak monsters which is ideal for my strategy! Djinn Chwala is having its time of her life with the Amplified thorn damage and watching those sneak monsters suicide while not being able to even go through the heavy armor!

Regarding Cursed Windeku, attacking first on Enrage Ruleset is not always ideal but the damage difference was offset with Amplified Thorn damage and an attack from Cabalist

Round 2

batt2.PNG
This is why speed manipulation is important! My Cursed Windeku has 5 speed while enemy's got 3 speed allowing mine to attack first and take down enemy Tank!
Undead Badger and Uraeus did finally trigger enrage on Djinn Chwala after breathing their last breath!
Now the battle is pretty much over after only Riftwing and Death Elemental left resulting in sweet victory and great satisfaction reagrding my cards selection!

My Opinion

Cabalist was key in turning the tides in the mirror Cursed Windeku Tank position and well as taking down Silent Sha-vi as it was taken down after 2 reflected attacks instead of 3.
what could be done differently is switching Cursed Windeku and Djinn Chwala position as an enraged Chwala will have 5 Melee Damage but we can't garantee Cursed windeku survivability again 3 sneak attacks (although amplified thorn will do the job) so maybe I'll give it a try next time.
It'll be pretty interesting to have Cabalist in some of the rulesets I've mentionned before!
