A YOUNG CHAP CALLED ATEQ

It was another rainy day in moonville and all the towns folks had sought shelter in their various homes. The street was empty of people and any sign of life and the only sound that could be heard was the sound of the rain.

It wasn't a heavy rain, just a little drizzle but still yet everyone stayed indoors. The people of moonville were terrified of the rain. It was a taboo to get drenched in the rain or do anything with the rain water. The city was built in a way that allows all the rain water to flow downstream in not less than an hour.

A long time ago the people of moonville never paid mind to the rain. They drank the water, did all sorts of things with it and even played in the rain without fear. But that all changed when a certain young chap angered the sky gods and made them to curse moonville.

It was at the yearly gods festival, where all the people around the isle planet would come together and show gratitude to the sky gods for the things of the sky. A young chap called ateq was among them but he was more ambitious than the rest. While others saw this as a festival to show gratitude, he had seen it as a festival of opportunity.

Ateq had already made out his plan before the festival began. He was going to take the staff of the rain goddess. Ateq wanted to control the rain himself, the people of moonville didn't have enough rain that year and so many plants had died, especially ateq's crops because he had started the planting season late. He wanted to control the rain at will but little did he know what was going to happen.

While all the gods were asleep, ateq began his mischievous plan. He went into the chambers of the gods and stole the staff of the rain goddess. Ateq was delighted at how easy it was to steal the staff. But unknown to him the goddess was aware of what he had done.

The next morning the rain goddess called for the attendence of the people of the isle planet. She had asked that whoever had stolen her staff would be forgiven as long as they return it. The rain goddess was known for her gentle nature, she was considered the goddess of second chances but when your second chance is gone her wrath is mightier than a heavy storm.

She expected ateq to feel remorse for what he had done and return the staff,but he still pretended like he was innocent. He thought she had no idea who stole the staff.
The anger of the rain goddess was growing by the minute at the audacity of ateq. In a booming voice she said

"I will curse whoever stole the staff from me if he does not return it now. He and his people will face my wrath".

Ateq did not care if the people of moonville suffered, he could move to another place and start again. Ateq had a sly smile plastered on his face thinking he could get away with it.
Suddenly, there was a heavy storm. Everyone became frightened. The rain goddess raised her palms in the air and suddenly ateq was in front of her.
" Did you think you could steal from me ateq" she said

Ateq tried to deny it and feign innocence but his luck was already out. The rain goddess cursed the people of moonville that whoever touches her water would die a painful death. Ateq's blind ambition to control the rain caused the people of moonville a great deal of pain.
