The depressed state of mind of victims who got hacked

It hurts to see people get hacked, some victims commit suicide while some attempt it because they lost their life savings in the hack.

Recently, I heard of a case where a guy's wallet that contained 200,000 dollars was hacked, the guy poisoned himself but he was rescued by family members who noticed him on time and took him to a hospital.

Imagine after all the struggle of building his wealth from zero to 200k dollars just to lose everything in one second to hackers, that is 200 million plus in my country's currency, a life-changing money that can build houses, buy cars, and give access to living a comfortable lifestyle.

Some people were saying, he should not have attempted suicide, but it is not easy, some luck does not happen twice and he might not be able to get up from that while some people will earn more than that again. One thing is certain though, anyone who loses his life savings in that way will be depressed for a long time!

I am still not sure how it happens because most victims of hackers always claim that they did not click a phishing link, so how did they get hacked? because there are few ways I know that hackers use.

source

Phishing links: This method is when some random users send you a link promising you money or airdrop, and if you are the greedy type or the one that doesn't think deeply, you will fall for it by clicking the link and give them your details and before you blink your eyes, your account has been wiped out...

This happened to a friend of mine on Hive, he clicked a phishing link and his Hive account was hacked, the hacker changed his password immediately and transferred the Hbd in his wallet out, he was lucky that his Hive was locked as HP, the hacker started the powering down as well but he was able to retrieve his account in 3 days to stop it...

Software download: This method is when random users dm you on Discord or any other site asking you to test run their app for them, it could be a spy app that will give them access to the details on your system, and they will promise huge amount of money to entice their victim so they can do their bidding, so we also need to be aware of software that we download.

Access to your Password Offline: Trust nobody with your asset, especially friends, the moment two or more people know the password to your wallet, just know it is no longer safe, and the worst part is you won't know the betrayer since more than one person knows your password, so don't let people know where you keep your password and if any of your friends is trying to poke nose too much in that aspect, be strict because that is your life he wants to tamper with.

Connecting Wallet: This is the fastest way to get hacked, especially for those hunting airdrops that connect their wallet to any site they see, may we not lose 1 million because we want to loot 10naira, I personally do not connect my main wallet to airdrop site, I create an alt wallet specifically for airdrop to be on the safe side.

I have never been a victim of hackers, no one is perfect but I take a lot of precautions to make sure I do not become a victim and I have been lucky so far... I even cut off people that hackers show in front of their foreheads. let me tell you a story about one hacker.

I met this guy in my sister's shop, he saw me working on my laptop and he extended a hand of friendship which I took and we started discussing crypto and web-related stuff, he told me he needed something to keep him going and I promised to invite him to hive but during our conversations, I got to know he is good with designs and he knows much about the online world based on his talks but he ruined everything when he told me that he hacked his friend who taught him about crypto, which was his biggest mistake, cos I also wonder why you will be telling me you hacked your friend, is that suppose to impress me? oh well that was the sign I needed and that was the last day I met up with him or had any real conversations with him lol.

Be safe out there guys.

I didn’t know about the testing app. Wow, thanks for this information. I’m glad I came across this post at this time. The guy who told you he hacked another person probably wanted to impress you with skills but he didn’t know it was dumb and of course you did the right thing. If he was able to bite the finger that was feeding him, then for you, he’d just swallow you straight , lol

Yeah I think he was trying to impress me lol, he must later regret revealing such info, I think the word mistakenly drop from his mouth

Damn, that's a pretty cold story, I know I would have poisoned myself too. We really gotta tackle the hack situations especially with the world entering into a more advanced state

it is heartbreaking but when there is life, there is hope.... it is not even easy to commit suicide, the pains and everything

Hmm, I feel for the guy, but there is nothing pain can't do. Though suicide is not the best option, the wise say, a living dog is better than a dead lion. Those hackers are mean, don't care how you get the money or what you want to use it for, once it gets into their hands, that's it.

Thanks for the advice about airdrops, some of us that are chasing them like hungry lions, 😂😂 this is a huge lesson.

lolz yea, i know many new users who just connect their wallets anyhow, and I be like these people no dey fear at all, but then again I guess probably they don't have something in the wallet they connect...but empty wallet go full later and dey would have forgotten the sites they connected to that wipe their money

Imagine that guy who was already saying that he had a lot of money as his life savings but everything went back to zero
How does he start?
I’m just happy that he was rescued from killing himself

Many will take a long time to recover from that type of loss, some may never recover. I think being really cautious and having basic knowledge of how hackers operate is important. Better safe than sorry ;)

I think software download is a very common one and most of us don't read what kind of permission software asking to access. We just accept it without thinking too much and it's the easiest access to get the access of our data and we become a victim of cybercrime.

I really feel a sense of big pity for that guy because Omo... losing such kind of amount of money is something pretty had to deal with and recover from. I'm glad they were being able to notice on time.
This was a really good read boss
