Splinterlands battlemage Secrets: Briar Patch
Hello Splinternerds
The early players of Splinterlands were lucky because we only had to deal with like 1 or 2 editions of cards, the options to choose from were limited, and hence, it was quite easy to pick a team for battle unlike now that we have a lot of editions and a newbie might find it really difficult to identify the summoners and monsters.
They catch up with the game as time goes on but of course, it will require a lot of time and passion towards the game to be able to scale through, the rules combo, abilities of monsters and summoners, predicting and countering opponent line up, the list of what to learn is just endless.
This week's battle mage secret is Briar Patch
A rule set in which all monsters possess the thorn ability at the start of the battle, this rule is against melee attacks so players often avoid using Melee monsters and come up with either magic or range monsters.
*I was paired with a player in 3 rule set combo, the briar patch was one of the rules while the other 2 rules were:
Stampede
was the first rule that favors melee monsters with the trample ability as they would be able to utilize the ability to the max but the thorns ability made me avoid using melee monsters.
Tis but scratches
was the second one and it bestowed the cripple ability on all monsters, whenever they attack, they reduce the health of their opponent permanently and no healer would be able to recover it unless the opponent has the Immunity
ability.
The opponent used the Conqueror Jacek
summoner, his plan was to scatter his attack to defeat me but as he was busy making his plans, I was also making a fire to roast his monsters.
Weapon Training
The weapon training was my first tactic, I used 2 nonattack monsters but with great abilities, the Grimbardun Smith was the tank, and his immunity
ability protected him from the cripple negative stats, while I used Will-o-Wisp
to silence
the opponent magic monsters.
This is Skok Duskblight
, the weapon-training monster that supplied the two non-attack monsters above with his magic power, which made the process of eliminating the opponent tank faster. he also has a ``resurrect ability which helps with the success of my second tactic.
Martyrdom
Vruz was the monster with the Martyr
ability, whenever it got eliminated, it boosted all the stats of the opponents adjacent to it, I placed the Will-o-Wisp and Chaos dragon
beside it so they were the two monsters that benefitted from his death and Skok
made it more interesting by resurrecting it which further boosted the magic power of Chaos dragon and Wisp
Random Attack
The Chaos Dragon and Gem Meteor were my main attacking monsters, I thought the opponent was going to use Lily Panda summoner or come up with Grimbardun Smith the same way I did, so my third tactic was to eliminate his monsters using my own monsters with the scattershot ability.
Chaos dragon's magic power was boosted to 6 and his first attack eliminated the opponent Scavo Chemist
and Wisp's magic power was boosted to 4.
The opponent lost his tank to the Briar patch
rule set and his team became vulnerable to more attacks from me.
It was an interesting battle.
