One habit I need to give up on
The one thing I would love to quit this year 2024 is a bad work-life balance.
Keeping up late at night in the name of work, one thing is certain, if health deteriorates, that same work I tried my best to keep up with would be abandoned. It is someone healthy that thinks about work.
I have been saying this for a while without making any adjustments but I really need to limit my work time and spend time caring for my health too.
I sleep for less than 8 hours out of the 24 hours and I can spend the whole day sitting and operating on my laptop, sometimes the only time I stand up is either to get something to eat or freshen up.
This is an unhealthy lifestyle and even if it is not affecting at the moment, it might have its effect during old age, a life without exercise and good sleep, and am planning to change everything this year.
I started by adjusting my sleep time to 11 p.m instead of the usual 1 or 2 a.m that I do sleep and it seems my body system is already adapting to the new changes because whenever I sleep by 11p.m I often wake up around 8a.m.
The plan now is to have also fixed a time for work, work from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. shut down my PC, take a nap, and not work till later in the night, probably for an hour or 2 hours before I sleep by 11p.m.
Staying away from late-night work will help to boost my system and brain, I realize whenever I sleep early, I feel so good in the morning, unlike days when I sleep so late and wake up with a headache or sometimes with a hot temperature and bad mood.
I went out today to do my jamb regularization for the part-time program am running, I covered some distance moving from one motor to the other, and I kind of love the feeling and realize I also need to be going out more rather than stay indoors all day and not enjoy the vitamin D that comes from sunlight.
I have tried doing the press-ups and push-ups I see online but seems I give up on that easily, probably because I do it alone and am not motivated.
Health is wealth, no matter the amount of money we have, it is useless without good health to enjoy it, our youthful days are when we should start taking good care of ourselves so we can enjoy our old age.
No more late-night work, I will eat right and live right, go out more which covers the exercise part, and just maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.

They always say you never know what you have until you loss it. I'm so happy you'd be giving more attention to what your body needs, it's definitely going to be more productive for you trust me.
The truth is work can wait because if you fall ill you won't even be able to work at all and you'd suffer even more loss.

Yeah and by then it won't be the best at all.
It is difficult to keep up with something unless there is someone to encourage and keep motivating you. This is why having an accountability partner works many times. Though one can still keep up personally on their own and that takes 100% determination to achieve the best.
Health is wealth and it is important we spare time for rest too. When we sleep or rest at the appropriate time, we wake up feeling stronger and energised.
Yeah me too I need to stop this habit, I am beginning to have eye bags and it's not funny. We all need our daily rest. Please Burlarj learn to sleep ok?

Health is wealth and we need to take care of it properly otherwise we will face the consequences of it specially with our ages we will face problem. Going to sleep early and wake us early is a very good habit. 🙂. So keep continue the habit.

Proper planning prevents poor performance. Nice to see that you have made a smart decision to cut down on some of your excesses as it might have some adverse effects later. I must say better late than never. If possible register with a gym class so as to follow through with exercise regiment. Health is wealth and wish you the best of both this year.

If you have a will power, definitely you can stick on to your new timings. Because without good health what is the use of accumulating wealth ??? So all the very best for your new resolution.
As I always say, work no dey finish. I remember when I was pregnant for my girl I used to work late into the night and wake very early all in the he name of helping people find their way around the system. One funny thing, this girl don't sleep too till late in the night and wake so early, this continued to the time my BP became so abnormal.
Now I am more delibrate to care for my body. I go to bed by latest 10PM and wake by 4AM. Taking proper care of our body is very important as it is a healthy person that makes money.
I do wish you well in your new plan and success in your Per Time program, make sure to study for two.

Having a good rest does help the body in a ways too numerous to mention, even your body will like the new routine.
Health really should be the first priority of us but we spend time on other things, mostly we don't have a good routine and time schedule but it'll take a little hard work to make it better and set your routine, I hope you'll do it this year 🙂

Yeah dear. Sleeping late in the night is not too good for us. Somethings I do sleep just because I want to make one post or the other but I had to stop because it is only those who are alive that will eat their money.

8 hours sleep a day is a lot and it was only on holidays that I enjoy such priviledge. As a mother I sleep around 12am overnight trying to work on my self development and other stuffs. Then I have to wake around 4am to cook and get the kids ready for school before their school bus comes around 6am.
Kudos to you mothers, It is not easy for you people because responsibilities/caring for the whole household fall on you... but 4 hours of sleep is too short, maybe you can try rescheduling to score an hour or two to make it 5 to 6 hours of sleep

Yeah, I get it. Something like this can only work with an accountability partner, someone that will drag you whether you are in for it or not. Somebody like me, what I do is skip rope and there are days I will wake up with the spirit of exercise while some days I do show interest in it at all.
Really, what's the use of money that spoils our health. I often thought about this. And reading late at night never left my headache. I join you in this decision. Let's make this new year better

The important part is taking steps in the right direction and to keep going when things get hard before one gets used to it. For me, I think I should also be going out more to get that vitamin D :)
