5 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE HAVING A BAD MOOD
Life always has a thing or two to through at us every time, some receiving strenuous situations others receive nerve wrecking people that test our every patience.
Maturity is a state of being fully developed physically and behaviorally, one would argue that it has nothing to do with temper because the situations differ from adults to children.
So what makes an 8 year old not to fight back when he gets hit by his/her 3 year old sibling or what makes them retaliate?. Is it safe to say that the 8 year old in the first instance is more mature than the other?.
How do we control our temper irrespective of our age and physical appearance?
Here are a few things to do when you notice your temper rising.
1.Take a Breath: Scientifically, taking a deep breath slows the heart rate and thus reduces the amount of adrenaline released into the blood. In case you don’t know adrenaline is a hormone released in the body due to stress. A bad temper puts stress on you so taking a breath is the first step to easing out of it.
2.Stop the Current Activity: An activity by which temper has been raised against should be paused pr stopped till normalcy is restored. This is to avoid making regrettable decisions that would disrupt the activity or render it futile.
3 Eat A Little fruit: Some fruits like banana and dates have been found to contain chemicals that help relax the body. When your temper is high, these fruits taken as a parfait help bring back the cheerfulness that was lost. I have hardly seen anyone eating something sweet while frowning hehe.
4.Rethink The Whole Scenario: Sometimes we are the cause of our own increased temperament, we sometimes misinterpret statements or misread actions. This usually lead to channeling resentment at the wrong person or situation. By rethinking the scenario critically you can get a more satisfying conclusion or result.
5.Apologize for Actions or in-actions: After flare of temper, things must have gone wrong. It may not necessarily be physical damage it might e emotional or simple inaction (snubbing or malice). An apology is necessary even if you are not wrong. This resolves the conflict and puts your mind at ease.
So, there you have it, these solutions are my personal opinions from my experiences and discussions with friends.
When was the last time you lost your temper? What was it about? And what was the outcome? Tell me these in the comments below, you might be proffering solutions for someone going through a phase.
