Water Is Life... Huh?
Water is life. There are no two ways about this because we use water for basically everything in life. Hell, even cars that run on diesel also need water for them to function properly. The world would be a dry and dead place if there was no water. That’s why it’s so important and survival will be minimal without it.
The kind of water we consume is also important. Water gets easily polluted, especially when the residents in the community are nonchalant about the quality of their water. These days, it’s hard to trust any water source, even tap water which used to be peak clean water is no longer viewed as such. And that’s sad. Well water also used to be clean enough to be drunk, but that’s all in the past.
Now, people have to rely on sachet water and bottled water for drinking. While the tap produces water for everything else. In these lodges, people rarely talk about washing the tank, no one would ever agree to it, it’s even possible that in the years since the house was built and the tank installed, it’s never been washed. Not once.
So, you can easily picture how dirty the tank must be. The dirt gathered over the course of the years must have accumulated at the bottom of the tank and thick enough to form a bed under all the water. Everyone knows this, and that’s why no one will dare drink the water.
Some people will prefer to treat the water themselves. They could boil it, they could also use that crystal filter that purifies water. The thing is, not everyone has the time for that. Personally, I don’t have that kind of time. To sit down and boil a large amount of water, before feeding them into bottles and loading them into the fridge. Nah… so I take the more expensive route. I buy pure water.
I know that “Pure water” is only a name and it’s not all that pure, but the only alternative is buying bottled water and that’s just too expensive for a student like me. Besides, the pure water is manufactured in and owned by my school, so I guess I should expect a level of competence, right?
I know someone who says he reacts to pure water, he even started drinking bottled water. The thing is, it’s really hard to know what brand is actually good. It could be fake that could be flooding the streets. Last month, the internet was agog with the discovery of people using the bottles of popular brands to sell their dirty and untreated water.
So, as it stands, it’s getting harder and harder to tell which ones are real. They’re everywhere. This is one reason why buying water in traffic is scary. Yeah, they could be really chilled and all, but I really don’t know if the water is the real deal. I usually prefer to buy soft drinks. At least, I’ve not heard reports of people faking soft drinks. Also, I believe I would know if my drink wasn’t tasting as it should.
Also, whenever I’m going out, I take my water bottle with me to drink water. At least, that’s one water I can trust its source. But if worse comes to worse and I really do have to buy water while I’m on the road, I disregard those hawking it and go to the shops. Actual shops and buy from them. So, if in the case of anything, I’ll have somewhere to pinpoint.
So, this is the kind of water I drink. Buying bags of water almost two to three times a week. At the current price, it’s really telling on my purse, but what can I do? The other option is to go thirsty. Anyway, I really hope that things work out, and we can come to trust our water companies more fervently.
It's not possible to go thirsty unless one wants to die.
Honestly, it's hard to tell which water is truly pure unless we do the purification ourselves.
For me, spending money on water all the time is expensive considering the number of people in the house and how many times we drink water.
There are times when the money won't be available and time to treat the water also won't be available and we will be left with no choice but to drink it like that.
For me, I'm the only one consuming it, I guess that's why despite the cost I'm still managing to keep pushing. Once another belly comes into the picture, I'll be forced to think of alternatives.
You are right....You can be a super human and continue pushing sha lol
Water is the ultimate source of life for all the living beings. No other opinion can be about it.
I wonder if soft drinks are an alternate for water? I think we need ample amount of water to mitigate the negative effects of soft drinks, don't we?
I would want to understand what does REACT means in the sentence. I mean if his body reacted or he had negative opinion about the issue or something else?
No, soft drinks can't substitute water. I meant that, there are moments when all you want is something chilled. It could be water, or soft drink, it just has to be chilled. Especially for someone that has been in the hot sun for a long time.
When he drinks the water, his belly begins to ache and bite him, sometimes for hours. It always subsides though. For him to avoid that, he boils his water properly.
I understand.
It happens to my son. And the doctor recommended boiled water
Boiling water can't be stressful bro and only thing that makes it easier for me is my madam, she doesn't joke with the whole process because bad water makes her sick too.
Many of those water we see on the road are not better than our tap water but we believe they are better just because of the packaging. Boiling water is still the simplest purification method for me and you just have to dedicated a few hours in a day to the task.
I don't know how many litres you take daily because that would determine a lot of things.
Abi it's just laziness that's doing me.😪
I've read a lot of posts and now I'm considering it. I'll have to buy a new pot for it though, because I don't want my water tasting of pepper and seasoning😂😂😂

Thank you for this.
While at my parent's, I didn't have to bother very much about the cleanliness level of my water cause we paid lots of attention to it.
Being away, sachet water has been it. Initially, it felt like scouting for a brand I could trust until I finally found one that fit well with the definition of water.
It's really long and tiresome to boil water, and I'm quite lazy, so I just face my packaged water.
It's telling on me in the aspect that it digs into my purse, especially because i consume lots of wzter, but I can't go thirsty.
We can't go thirsty ooo. For me, my school's pure water factory does the trick. At least I know where their water comes from.

Thank you for this.
I seriously agree with you. Buying water that is just sold on the road without knowing the source is not too good, and I also love the fact that you carry your own water when going out. That will save alot too.
Thanks for sharing
It saves a lot ooo. I can testify!
Just like when I was staying on the island, some of those water we used to buy will have some kind of offensive tastes
It’s really bad to buy water without knowing the source or a good reputation
As in ehn... but when one has no choice, what are we to do?
Tank maintenance is the best but how many landlords would listen to such suggestions or even want to take out money from their pockets to do such.
Is done by few house owners who know the essence of consuming treated water. If we want to look at what we consume as clean sachet water, he will be shocked that so many water factories don't even treat their water which is very bad.
I don't know if is the high cost of disinfectants and chemicals used or what that makes it very exorbitant these days and hard to be taken care of. In this side, the prices now differ, the well trusted brands sell higher prices than others. Some sell at 400, 450 per bag while some still remain 300.
Pure water is getting more and more expensive, and I just don't get why. People will keep choosing to go local and boiling their water.
That's a true bro, nothing can survive without water. Plants need water for photosynthesis, seeds need water for germination, humans need water for a thousand reasons, for quenching thirst, refreshment, and health maintenance.
Nice write up bro👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
You're welcomed ma bro
I pray things get better soon in NIGERIA It's Sad to see things get worse. in the 90s we had WATER COOPERATION COMPANIES CALLED (water board) Two things you need to do in other to get water from them. you register and they connect a pipeline to your house and the second free one, is to go directly to the company and fetch water. The water is highly treated for consumption by the general public. this was one of the best ways we get drinking water. you could either drink directly or boil. it's so bad now that they no longer function in our area and we resort to buying bottled water and pure water produced by small private water companies that are not government-approved. We should look for a good water-producing company and get our drinking water from them or one of their distributors just to stay healthy and alive. Without water, we can not function well. this is my little contribution. thanks for sharing.
Well... times have changed and things have gotten even more expensive. It's too bad joor.
that is true
