Time Is Relative...

It’s funny how time flies when you choose not to think about it, however, when you actively begin to think about it, it becomes as slow as a snail. It’s crazy, really. But then, that’s major for you. When you’re preoccupied with something else, being busy and being distracted, everything else seems to move in a flash. However, it all changes the moment you turn your attention to that very thing that requires your full attention, or the very thing for which you need time to blow past quickly.

That’s the reality of the world we live in. Time is a fickle thing, and it’s relative. What may be speedy for you may just be excruciatingly long for someone else. We can’t help it at this point. So, what works for one person may very well not work for someone else.

We’re around the middle of the semester in my school now, I’m sure you can remember how the beginning of the semester was for me. For the first few weeks, I didn’t return to school, not just me though, just about every student in the school didn’t resume for the first few weeks. It was as if we all held a meeting and decided to delay our return.

Anyway, the school authorities told us that whether we returned or not, they were not changing the calendar for us. So, we were forced to resume school, and by then, those few weeks had already been lost and we were starting off really late in the semester. Some lecturers tried to make up for this by rushing their lectures, others tried to make up by bombing us with assignments and tests.

It’s really insane right now, however, we’ve been able to cope so far. I can’t say that it’s been easy, but we’ve been able to make it work. The amount of homework I get is staggering, and the number of tests I have to study for would make my eyes bleed. Now, when you factor in the fact that I have to work so I can pay my bills, you realize the bleak picture that I’m drawing here. But then, just like I said, we’re making it work. If it wasn’t working for us, we would not have come this far.

Anyway, from what I can see now, it’s beginning to look like things are only about to get tighter and tougher. According to the school's calendar, our exams are meant to begin next month in September. And of course, preparing for this will take just about everything I have to give. I thought I had time to prepare for the exam, but with the date looming closer and closer, I grow less confident.

For someone who is always talking about how much I want to be done with this school, I should be happy that the exams are close by. Believe me, I’m happy about it. But that doesn’t make the impending exam any less terrifying. Anyway, I know that there’s nothing I can do to change the fact, so whether I like it or not, I’m going to make sure that I’m ready when the exam finally rolls around. That way, I’ll go through it in flying colors.

It’s the least I can do.
