The World Of Virtual Reality Is Upon Us!

At first, the world was purely physical. And then, we went digital. And now, it is no news at all that we would be going virtual very soon. The writing is on the wall, a time is coming in the nearest future the age of the internet and social media will be changed totally.

And this will be through virtual reality. Texts and chats will become obsolete, just like the post office and letters of the yesteryears. There will now be easier and more enjoyable ways to socialize across the internet. It would be great indeed. I am looking forward to such a time.

The beauty of Virtual Reality is that basically everything can be created online. You can go on dates, attend conferences, and visit sites, all without leaving the comfort of your home. This will be something like the movie Ready Player One, but this time around, it won’t be a game. It would be real life.

And then, thanks to crypto, there will be more opportunities for people to earn a living in the digital space. Through games, blogs, and other platforms, they will earn. This will continue to integrate people further into the world of virtual reality. And when it finally comes to pass, it would be like slipping into an old but comfortable show for many of us.

You might say that it might not be that easy. At first, it might be expensive, probably bulky, and difficult to operate. It might consume too much energy, much more than what crypto is consuming presently. But then, is that not how phones started as well? Soon after we graduated from telephones and landlines, we moved on to GSM which were at first big and bulky, some even came with antennae to search networks.

It was a long journey, but we eventually got to the smartphone that we all love and enjoy using today. And we all know that the journey is not over. Not now that things like robots, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality are taking over. Things we are used to seeing on the big screen are unfolding right in front of our eyes. And we should just embrace them.

Imagine having an online meeting, but instead of having it in chat or in a video call, you can actually go there. But with your avatar. You will go into a virtually designed building, wear online clothes you had purchased and make your way to your meeting. You could even take a seat, and sip coffee while you wait for it to start.

Or you can be living in Nigeria and go on a date with someone from Indonesia, your preferred dating spot could be somewhere in Italy, and you both will go there. Virtually, of course.

Once this technology becomes more widespread, it will change what we all have come to know about what social media truly is.

But then, this will also have negative effects. People are getting addicted to the internet as it is now, when virtual reality kicks in, it would get way worse. This is because VR would be able to give you the life of your dreams, and you might find that real life sucks way more than virtual life and you might find it easier to spend more time in there.

And then, if there is something I am sure of, it is the fact that this will definitely come with a health hazard. At least within its first days. Prolonged use will surely lead to one thing or the other that will have to do with health.

Society will become even more introverted, and physical meetings will become more and more difficult. We would have more people working from home, and this would mean that people will have fewer reasons to socialize with their immediate neighbors. After all, the entire concept of social media is to connect you to people that are too far away.

Personally, I don’t know when this metaverse will come to life and we all would be able to access it, but I am sure that when that time comes, the world would be ready to move on to the next stage of evolution. Of course, there will be those who will be against it initially. After all, there had been those who had been against social media as well.

Either way, I look forward to venturing into the virtual world.
