The Cathedral of Caracas (En/ Es)
English
Today I present to you, the Cathedral of Caracas also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Ana located in the capital city of Caracas in Venezuela; it is located in the central area, surrounded by buildings that have preserved their colonial, baroque-neo baroque architecture and this architectural structure is no exception. It was built in 1665 by the architect Juan Medina in collaboration with the architect Francisco Andrés de Meneses, who was in charge of designing its façade, preserving its style.
This church has a personal history with me, because since I was a child, my parents took me to visit it, since it is part of our architectural history and part of the culture of our country, also for being one of the most beautiful temples in the city. Apart from the fact that it is located in one of the most iconic and popular places in my city, it is near the Liberator's mother's house and the house in which he lived the first year of marriage with his wife, it is practically located one block away from the church and in front of it is the beautiful Bolivar square, a witness of the beauty of the place.
I still remember, when I was in school, they took us on a tour to visit these historical places of my city. It was a complete tour plan; all with a very similar architectural beauty between baroque neo-baroque and neoclassical. But when we arrived at this church it was like arriving at an imposing place, impressive for its spaces; there have given masses, cardinals, bishops, is where they have met, the highest authorities of Catholicism. Apart from the fact that the mortal remains of the parents and the wife of Simon Bolivar rest there, it is a place that invites reflection and prayer dedicated to the mother of the Virgin Mary, Saint Anne. It has been one of the most visited places by tourists and locals.
It is known for its wide spaces, its colorful stained glass windows and its high ceilings that provide a spaciousness and illumination to all its spaces, although they have beautiful lamps that go in tune with its ancient design, giving it a touch of distinction and beauty. What I like most about this place is precisely that it is very spacious and nowhere is in shadows, as there are many temples that I have visited and this is one of its most visible features, as you can see in the different photos that I share with you.
By the time I entered the cathedral, they were offering a service or mass to the parishioners and you can see the people in their places of prayer. Another thing I love about this church is that it has a bell tower that has different styles of sounds, for each hour and those who are familiar with these tones, can distinguish without a watch at hand what time they are giving or if it is a call to mass, as it can be heard throughout the central hull; many times I have been passing near the place and hear their bells and say: there is mass now or simply I realize the time they are “marking” with the bars of the bells. It is a place that should be in one of the first places to visit if you come to our city, because it is very beautiful, besides it is as if you got into a small part of the colonial era, because all its buildings are in tune with that beautiful time. I recommend this visit, greetings!

The interior design of the cathedral is beautiful, several months ago I visited the city of Caracas and saw the cathedral but it was closed, for various errands and time reasons I could not go again at a time that it was open, I love the columns and arches.
Greetings!
It's a shame you couldn't visit her. They open it at certain times and special services, so sometimes it remains closed... I don't have the opportunity to visit it when I see it open, because it always has something different, thank you for your visit👻
