We had a lot of fireworks before midnight, but by the time it came around, we were well asleep and I think everyone was done with the fireworks. Usually our neighbor has some big ones, but he must have skipped them this year.

Not sure what happened this year, usually it's not bad here. I sounded like the fourth of July come midnight until one. Sounds like you lucked out on the big ones this year. I bet they aren't cheap to buy these days.
Well my brother in law used to sell them from his truck. Then when the cops would confiscate them and take them back to them for disposal he would just sell them again :) We were in Denver over the 4th and the neighborhood we stayed in sounded like a war zone all night!
That's a funny story, at least he didn't get in trouble so he probably made more off what he sold than they confiscated! I'm not a big fan of fireworks anymore, sets off PTSD!
I'm not really a fan of them anymore either since he had one blow up in his hand. He stopped working there shortly after. He is still close with the owner though.
They really can be dangerous, it's shame that happened to him. I've heard of people losing fingers and eyes from fireworks!
He almost lost his hand. It was pretty scary!
