Very interesting. I didn't know most of that. I don't think I could have handled dividing everything by 12. I just don't have that many fingers!

You do have that many joints though 😃 Societies that don't use decimal usually count that way. But anyway, 12 has more divisors than 10, making it slightly easier for doing in your head without being forced into fractions: with 10 you just have 2 and 5, but with 12 you have 2, 3, 4, and 6. It is why duodecimal was actually much more common than decimal for most of human history. You can see the remnants of that in many of our current systems: 12 inches to a foot, for instance, and we still count in dozens for many things, stepping up to gross and great gross for manufacturing.
