Los Chingones and Coors Field: More Downtown Denver
When we left off last time, @mrsbozz and I were strolling around the River North area of Downtown Denver looking at some awesome street art and eventually driving over to a cool record store someone here on Hive tipped me off about.
You can read all about it in this post
After walking around for a bit, we decided it might be a good idea to get some food before the baseball game we had tickets for. We met up with one of my nieces softball teammates and her family at a little Mexican place called Los Chingones
According to what I have been able to find online, Los Chingones loosely translates to "The Badasses". It was this cool little taco joint in the middle of the city. It actually took me a bit to find it because I didn't take any photos of the menu and there are honestly about a million taco places in the Denver proper area.
I knew it was just a short walk away from the stadium though, so through process of elimination, I eventually tracked it down.
Since the car was safely parked in one of the local lots and we were walking to Coors Field from the restaurant, we decided to order a pitcher of margaritas (or two). It was quite delicious and came just the way I like them, on the rocks with salt on the rim. None of that frozen stuff for me!
We decided to share a three dip appetizer that came with salsa, guacamole, and queso. It was good, but it wasn't anything that knocked my socks off.
They actually had a pretty compact menu compared to what I have come to expect from most Mexican restaurants. I think part of that has to do with the fact that tacos are their main focus and not the other traditional dishes that most places have.
@mrsbozz and I decided to share a three taco plate. I got one with pork for me and she got one with chicken for her, then we shared a third that also had chicken on it. The tacos were quite good, but I think a lot of times when you put a ton of stuff on tacos the flavors can get lost in each other.
Everyone else either got tacos or the quesadilla that was on their special menu for the day. The food was good, but with so many other options in the city for Mexican food, I don't think I would circle back to this place right away. That being said, they did have a really cool rooftop bar that I would imagine is a fun place to hang out on pleasant nights in the summer.
With out bellies full, we made the short couple of blocks walk to Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team.
The tickets for the game were fairly inexpensive since at the time The Rockies were one of the worst teams in the league. I am not sure if that is still the case, but at $12 per ticket, it was a hard deal to pass up.
They weren't horrible seats either for that price. We were just a couple rows from the back wall in right field. The views were absolutely amazing.
It's a really beautiful park and it felt only right to get a photo of my Coors Light at Coors Field!
I noticed many other people around me were taking the same or a similar photo throughout the course of the game!
While @mrsbozz and I were busy taking selfies...
My younger niece grabbed this shot of the bullpen for me.
The Rockies were facing off against the Milwaukee Brewers which again at the time was one of the best teams in baseball. I haven't been following baseball too closely this year, so I don't know if they are still doing well. I think a lot of people expected the game to go a certain way, but I am happy to say we were pleasantly surprised.
In fact, I couldn't believe the number of home runs that were hit in this game. They say that the reduced altitude in Denver makes the balls travel about ten feet further than they normally would.
This row of purple seats spans the length of the stadium and wraps around from left field to right field. That line marks the mile high mark, so those seats are about 5280 feet above sea level. It's pretty cool that they highlight them like that.
As the sun started to set, the night got more and more beautiful. The weather was pretty much perfect and the crowd was really getting into the game. It was a back and forth affair between the Rockies and the Brewers.
You can see highlights of the game in the video above. In fact, if you fast forward to the 6:25 mark and you know where to look, you might even see me in the stands when a home run ball came our way!
I make another brief appearance around the 8:50 mark when another home run ball came our way and actually landed right in the seat next to me that my brother in law was occupying.
I was sitting down and my brother in law was standing up. We both tried to reach for it, but we didn't have the angle and unfortunately, the guy in blue behind us reached down and snagged it.
No home run ball for either of us, but we did get an absolutely tasty hot dog to enjoy while we watched the game. It was seriously one of the best hot dogs I have had in a while. Quite possibly even better than the tacos we had for dinner!
The game went into extra innings, but the Rockies eventually secured the walk off victory against the Brewers. It was a really fantastic game! I actually can't think of a better way to have spent our Monday night than going to this game. It really ticked all of the boxes. The only thing that could have made it better was walking out with a home run ball.
With two full days in Denver behind us, I was practically buzzing with excitement over what might lay ahead for us. Check back after #threetunetuesdasy to see where we ended up!
What a crowded place and perfect place for watching sports activities, by the way the eateries is really fit to visit to buy those delicious snacks. I wish I could visit the place also. 😊
It was a really good time and it wasn't too crowded. Not like it would have been on a weekend. The food was really great!
I would really like to taste and explore the place someday Sir @bozz . 😊

Massive stadium, a wonderful way to spend an evening watching a live game, this feeling really is the best!
Tend to agree with you the hotdog looked exceptional, although the pitcher of margaritas was a grand way to start the evening, a drink I have yet to taste....
!BEER
Oh really? It's definitely an acquired taste. You have to find the right mix too. A lot of places use way too much sour mix and it ends up just being heartburn in a glass!
Perhaps one day, although there are many drinks I have not tried, some tasted I would never try again....
Haha, yeah, I think we have all had one or two of those!
Sometimes medicine went down easier....

.What a cool stadium looks like the ones I see only in movies and TV series!!😍😍😍😍
By the way I'm impressed by the food so many yummy things 💓❤️💕
Denver definitely has a lot of great stuff to offer. I hope I can go back there one day and really experience some more of the flavors.
I was at a game there at Coor's field once that was snowed out. Quite a shock for a middle Missouri guy! We are used to rain delays, etc but never white out, :D
That actually doesn't shock me too much. Those squalls come down from the mountains pretty quickly and who knows what they are going to drop on you!
WOW! It's been some time since I've been to a game but that stadium looks beautiful.
It really was. I think the only thing that could have made it better is if you had been able to see the mountains. If you are closer to home plate or left field, you might be able to in the distance.
Great post and photos! I don't live in Denver anymore, but I sure do miss the city and those mountains! 👍
I don't blame, you. I love living the country life, but that view could almost make me change my mind!
The foods looks so yummy 🤤
Thank you! It was quite delicious!
What a day! I loved the restaurant name, that's hilarious! It looks like great day at the ball park. I haven't followed baseball much this year either. But it's still fun to watch a game in person like that. It's been a few years for me. To go to a game in L.A. would be nightmare traffic!
Great pictures, looks like a lot of fun!
I can only imagine how bad that would be in LA. I was in Oakland traffic once and that was bad enough. The food and game were amazing.
