I Voted! Good Luck America!

I wouldn't expect many people to appreciate the significance of what day it is today, but apparently everyone outside of the US feels they have as much riding on this election as the people who live here. It's definitely a smaller world than it used to be that one nation can have so much impact outside of its scope.

Take it with a grain of salt though, people are more than happy to overlook the good things and the first ones to point fingers when they feel something bad has happened.

I actually did my civic duty a while ago. I choose to early absentee vote because my job takes me away from my home area on election day and I never know if I am going to be able to make it home before the polls close. One unexpected network outage and my vote becomes worthless.

Despite the title this isn't really a political post. Since it is Tuesday, it's actually a #threetunetuesday post sponsored by @ablaze.

PXL_20241029_203146668.jpg

It's also a bit of a silver post, since I visited the bullion store the other day and I picked up my first modern Silver Eagle coin from the store. I think I have some older ones of these, but they are pretty worn. I plan on taking much better care of this one.

It just felt right to share it with you on election day.

These next couple of days are going to be quite interesting. I literally have no clue how everything is going to pan out. What I do know is that while many Americans are fooled by the lies, we are also resilient, and though it might hurt at first, we will figure out a way through the next four years.

Of course I need to start with Willie Nelson. Both folk and country music has always been quite good and poking fun and speaking out against the government. Although Willie is from Texas and you might think he takes a certain path because of that. However, I am fairly certain he leans more left than right. I could be wrong though.

"Vote Em Out" is a fun view of elections from a bit different perspective. While most of the time we think of elections as voting someone in, as he says in the song, it's also about voting the incumbents out sometimes. I know a fair number of people who will be happy to see Biden gone. They might not like the alternative, but as I said, voting is as much about getting the old out as it is getting the new in.

Too bad we can't start getting rid of some of those dinosaurs in the other branches of government!

I've had the chance to see Willie live two or three times in my life and he always puts on a great show. Even at his old age, he is still killing it and doing his thing. It's honestly quite impressive. I hope I still have that much energy when I am his age. Perhaps I need to start smoking weed!

My second song today is from none other than Alice Cooper and it is called "Elected". It's a funny thing about Alice Cooper, I always considered him to be this heavy rocker, but when you listen back to his songs now, they are actually pretty tame. The same is true with bands like KISS as well. What used to be considered hard rock back in the day, is about one tick away from Yacht Rock these days.

Despite that, "Elected" is still a good tune with an fun message. Could you imagine Alice Cooper as president of the United States? He actually seems like a pretty level headed and cool guy in real life, so it actually might not be that bad of a thing.

Apparently he did launch a satirical campaign to be president in 2024. If we are being honest, he definitely would have gotten my vote!

I've gotta be honest. I don't really know much about The Replacements, which is weird to me given the fact that they could be considered one of the main influencers of alternative rock. They were formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota back in 1979 which could be part of the reason I missed them since I would have been a toddler.

They were also pretty early on the punk scene in the US as well in earlier incarnations of the band. They actually have a pretty interesting story and I would encourage you to jump over to Wiki and check it out sometime.

Despite my unfamiliarity with the band, they have a song called "Election Day", so that felt like the perfect way to end this post. It's actually a good tune and if this introduction to the Replacements for me is any indication, I am going to like a lot of their other stuff today.

While the rest of the country is heading to the polls to cast their vote, I am going to be sitting in my office listening to The Replacements.

You can take that to the bank!

Yeah, Willie usually leans liberal. Both he and Dolly have thrown their support behind Harris. That's a funny song from Alice Cooper.

Fingers crossed today doesn't end with the US on fire.

That's what I figured, but I wasn't really sure. It's hard to assume these days. I hope you are right about how this ends. Right now, I wouldn't bet on it either way...

We need less division in all societies. There are forces driving us apart. I vote for hope, but funny get a sat in your election.

Good decision. You have less influence than here when you decide on the witnesses, but still. Every vote counts!
Thanks for sharing The Replacements. I didn't know them until now.

Happy to share something new! I don't think we are going to know the outcome for several days here.

I am sure that whoever is elected will not bring much change. But now everybody is making a drama. 😎

Being from the other side of the pond, I doubt you have heard this. Arcadia were a Duran Duran spinoff. It fits today... title-wise only.

That one came up in one of my lists as I was looking for my third song. I skipped over it though. Not because I don't like Duran Duran or their side projects, I was just interested in sharing something else. Good choice though!

Not from the US but always keeping an eye on the election. It's interesting because whoever sits in the oval office, their policy decisions could affect the rest of the world. I mean, talk about the value of the US dollar and its impact on a country's reserve, interest rate, international trade and so on. Nowadays, there's also the looming south china dispute, at least around APAC that is our hot topic and US has involvement there. That being said, I hope a positive outcome from all these and less division too.

I don't think less division is going to happen without some major world event or a sudden dissolution of the two party system. People are way to entrenched at this point. It's beyond ridiculous!

Some fun choices there! I always like some Willy, he's a talented guy. I hadn't heard that one before, cool. Alice Cooper and Kiss were really tame compared the bands today. Cooper is an entertainer for sure, that's a funny song. The Replacements I don't know all that well either, I was pretty young at the time. I know a few of their songs, but not that one. Some good punk though!

All this division in the country doesn't bode well, at this rate it's just a matter of time until Texas leaves the country and multiple others will all follow.

Yeah, believe it or not as long as there is zero violence involved, I am curious to see how that might all work out. I wonder if there have been any really deep dives into it to see what might happen if they were to actually accomplish what they think they want.

Thanks, I appreciate it. They had a ton of them at the store where I went. I don't know if they were all the same year or different ones. I just took the second one the guy handed me. The first one had a bit of a nick on the edge.

I'm like you. I just take what is given to me!
May I say... stack when you can and driven by your budget, that amount which you can absolutely spare. That way you don't have to sell when you don't need to, and sell only when you want to and at a price that you like.

Sounds like a good plan. I actually only went this past week because I had a bit of extra money in the budget and I knew I had been wanting to make some buys. Before that I just couldn't find a way to fit it in, so I didn't.

I think the world is opening up again, to me the impact of the US on the world stage is getting less and less. China and Russia really are pushing the new world order what with Iran and North Korea helping them.
Glad you voted and it is something I always do.
We can't moan at a party if we did not bother to vote!
Willie Nelson and Alice Cooper are legends and I know those tunes.

Now...

The Replacements, which is weird to me given the fact that they could be considered one of the main influencers of alternative rock

I have never heard of The Replacements which then makes me wonder if I know anything of what is considered Aletrantive Rock!

Hope your party wins!

Alternative rock is just pretty much anything that doesn't fall into the other categories. It's quite broad. I think you are right about the world opening up. I think there are bigger threats out there, but people tend to focus solely on us. I'm not saying we are flawless or without blame, I'm just saying there is plenty of both to go around.

You are right when you say that the world is getting smaller and smaller, technology is bringing us closer and closer faster and faster. I do not live in the United States but my vote would always be for Trump and even more so knowing that he is in favor of cryptocurrencies.
I wish you a happy day

I guess to each his own. I just don't think I could look myself in the mirror if I voted for the kind of man who does and says the things to women, minorities, and marginalized groups that it has been proven he did.

Good old Willie Nelson. I have about 15 or 20 albums from him. I always enjoy listening to them although my record players been acting up so I need to get a new one. I also just lost my technics CD player. It decided to stop working after 37 years 8 months. Some nerve!

You got a nice silver eagle there! 2017. It's looking good. You're stack is also slowly growing. Just like my stack and the silver prices. Lol.

Wow, 37 years! That's dang impressive. I don't think I still even have my five disc changer anymore. That is sad about your turntable. I almost wish mine would die so I could get a new one, but the good old RCA keeps plugging right along!

The turntable is also pretty old and is starting to speed up and slow down in a rhythmic fashion.. I can hear the pulsating slow fast rhythm change - if that makes any sense. Basically the speed is f'd up. lol

Yeah, my first CD player. I remember I bought The Smiths CD at the same time and played that damn thing out.

Haha, I love the Smith's. Sounds like motor could be going or the part that sends power to the motor. I hope you find something awesome to replace it with. Technics is always good and I have heard good things about the Audio Technica line.
