Tourney Time (Sort of)
As I said in my post yesterday, the conference tournaments have now started for NCAA men's basketball. This is going to be a bit of a short post because there weren't that many games played yesterday. The real action takes place today with 15 games being played in the top 25.
Things got kicked off in the Big Ten with a couple of unranked teams playing each other. Maryland beat Rutgers and Penn State took down Michigan to advance themselves further in the bracket.
Today, Michigan State faces off at noon against Minnesota, Maryland has another game against Wisconsin, Ohio State takes on the Buckeyes, and Penn State goes toe to toe with Indiana.
In other conferences yesterday, BYU beat UCF to advance in what should have been a pretty easy win for them anyway.
On the flip side of things, a Kansas team that has seen the top 5 throughout the season fell to a Cincinnati team in a bit of a shocker. This early exit from the Big 12 tournament is a pretty big deal for Kanas. I think they will still make the national tournament, but people who had their sights set on a championship run might need to adjust their glasses.
One thing you can be sure of when it comes to the conference tournaments is that you never know what to expect. You have some bubble teams hungry for that big win and they can sometimes run the bracket.
For example, despite their miserable season, if Michigan had been able to get five wins over the course of the next few days, they would have punched their ticket to the big dance. Would they really deserve to be there? I'll leave that up to you to decide!
Magic happens in March time and time again. That's part of the reason I love tournament time so much!

I saw that Duke got eliminated from the ACC tournament in their first game. It wont be long and we will be getting honestly, too much information from March Madness. I decided to sit out this year as far as the brackets are concerned. I always get it totally wrong
I'm not usually very right either, but I did a bracket nevertheless. I will be sharing it when I get around to writing my post this morning. I still think I want to throw together a second one too.
