Thanks for nothing Lions!

)

It was a rough Thanksgiving if you are a Detroit Lions fan. I was sitting at my mother and father in laws house watching the game with the rest of my extended family. We all watched in disgust as the same old Lions team that we have become familiar with over the past several years took the field.

Gone was the confidence, stifling defense, and "grit" that we have seen in the past year from the Lions. There is a point where you can't even be mad at the Lions honestly.

We allowed ourselves to believe the hype and think that this year might actually be different. I want to say shame on them, but really we should be saying shame on us.

It's our own fault for thinking things could be different. We somehow forgot the fact that Goff is just a horrible quarterback and we believed (even for a hot second), that he might actually be good. Then we have the last two games. Something like six or seven turnovers in 5 quarters of football.

It's ridiculous.

I know, I know, this is only one game, and there is still a lot of season left, but if the Lions don't get their stuff figured out, it's not going to turn out well. The fact this, things aren't going to get easier. These past two games should have been shoe in's for them. The ones ahead, not so much.

As my brother in law pointed out, the Vikings will probably beat the Bears later this weekend. That will put them one game behind the Lions in the NFC Central. Then, the Lions still have to play the Vikings two more times this season.

Those aren't great odds given how they have been looking.

My hope is this will be a wake up call for them and will give them a chance to remember how they got where they are and get back to that. I hope anyway.

After the supreme disappointment that was the Lions game, we buckled ourselves in for another disappointment as the Michigan State Spartans took on a really good Arizona basketball team.

Arizona is really good an we expected it to be a bit of a bloodbath. For the first half of the game, it actually was, but finally, in the second half of the game, MSU started to play to their potential and at one point towards the end of the game, they closed the gap and pushed ahead of Arizona.

Ultimately, they lost by a handful of points, but I think this is a good preview of what the Spartans can accomplish this season. If they continue to play like this, they will definitely make it to the tournament in March and they could be playing for the conference title in March.

They showed a lot of potential for playing on the road in what was essentially a home game for Arizona.

I'm going to take a break this week and I won't be covering all of the sports that are happening this weekend.

The fact is, where I live, there is only one thing that matters this weekend and that is "The Game". Ohio State is coming to Ann Arbor this weekend to face U of M in a game that has been anticipated all year. This game is going to establish bragging rights for the rest of the year and it will likely have a huge impact on the college playoff landscape at the beginning of the year.

If you watch one college football game this weekend, it should be this one.

Be sure to check back Monday and Tuesday next week when I recap the rest of the action that took place this holiday weekend.

I was really hoping for a win. I love the history behind the game so in the end it's tradition to watch it win or lose.

I was able to have a few beers and good food so it made up for it.
