NFL Week 16 and College Bowl Recap
I hope each of you had a happy and blessed holiday weekend. If are from an area where it was just another weekend for you, I hope it was an awesome one. As far as the NFL is concerned, there was a flurry of games this past weekend. On the college side of things, we did have a couple random low level bowls here and there, but nothing to really write home about.
The real college bowls start this week. Sorry if your favorite team was in one of those other bowls. My favorite team didn't even make it to a bowl this year if that makes you feel any better.
I'm just going to screenshot the bowls that have completed so far for you. I think that is the best way to handle this.
As you can see, there were some close games and some not so close games. Congrats to the Toledo Rockets for winning their game. My niece almost attended there, so I am a bit sentimental about that school. It's pretty crazy how many games were decided by three points or less. No overtime games yet though.
Looking ahead... If you can stay up late enough, I think the game tonight between Wisconsin and Oklahoma State could be worth watching. We also have three other bowl games today. The First Responder Bowl, Birmingham Bowl, and Camellia Bowl. I might turn them on in the background just to have something to watch, but I probably won't pay too close attention.
The real action starts on the 28th where we have what should amount to some really good matchups. UCF/Duke, Oregon/North Carolina, Kansas/Arkansas, Texas Tech/Ole Miss. Any one of those games should give you the bag for your buck!
From the 29th on it is basically just a pick your poison type of scenario until the playoff games happen on December 31st. I honestly can't even wrap my head around how much good football is coming our way in the next week. You might want to install a TV in your bathroom so you don't miss any of the action!
The NFL sure is making things exciting heading into the playoffs. With a loss this past weekend to Carolina, I don't have a lot of hope that the Lions are going to make it into the playoffs. It wasn't even a close game either. They basically got their butts handed to them. Definitely not the team that we have seen in the past couple of weeks. Certainly not the team that upset the Vikings.
I've gotta admit, I am pretty annoyed that Green Bay and Minnesota found a way to win this past weekend. Talk about annoying. The fact that Green Bay is potentially going to make it to the playoffs and not the Lions even though the Lions beat them is just so annoying.
We had a ton more games won by 3 points or less this past weekend. I'd like to say there have been some epic matchups, but really I just feel like we have been watching a lot of mediocre football this year.
The Rams sure did pound the Broncos 51 to 14. That's not good for the Lions draft options. I'd also like to give a shout out to Houston for snagging their second win of the season. Against Tennessee none the less. Talk about a big win!
In the AFC east, we have Buffalo, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Kansas City, and the Chargers all in the playoffs. This last week should determine if Jacksonville or Tennessee make it in.
In the NFC, Philadelphia, Dallas, Minnesota, and San Francisco are in. Beyond that... Who knows. Like I said though, Green Bay, Detroit, and Tampa Bay all have the same record. The Giants are one game over all three of them. The Lions have big wins over at least two of those teams.
This next week is going to be a must win situation for a lot of teams to even have a chance at the wildcard spot.
Who do you think is going to snag it?
Lol I’m a fan of the Eagles and the Chiefs. The NFC and AFC are just too high-powered this year.
It would be cool to see Philly go all the way. I don't know the last time they were in the Superbowl, but I feel like it has been a while.
Yeah it was back in 2018 when they last appeared and won their first.
More recently than I would have guessed to be honest.
