NCAA Football Week 7 plus some college softball
Sorry, I am a bit late writing this post. As you can see from the post on my main account today, I have been a bit busy the last couple of days.
It seems to be the case this year that @mrsbozz and I are quite busy on the weekends. This has really cut into my college football viewing, but I don't really mind too much. This past weekend was no exception.
We had the pleasure of driving down to Toledo, OH to watch my niece play softball with her college team the Tiffin Dragons. They were playing the University of Toldeo whom they had beat pretty easily a couple of weeks earlier at Ohio State University.
Unfortunately, they didn't do quite so well this time. They got beat by a score of 24 to 2. Many of the players were talking to their families and saying how embarrassed they were. Things happen and this just wasn't their day. They didn't seem to have much energy on defense and their pitching was struggling a bit.
It was still a joy to watch my niece play at the college level. This was just the first of many games I hope to see her play in!
I was worried about getting to Toledo in time and knowing we had to go through Ann Arbor where Michigan was playing a home game against Penn State, I was afraid the traffic would be crazy. It wasn't too bad, but coming home we got tied up in some bumper to bumper stuff.
Michigan easily handled the Nittany Lions after a bit of a slow start to the game. I guess if you are a Michigan fan that is good. I actually would have preferred Penn State to win that game. I am pretty happy that Michigan State won their game in double over time against Wisconsin. If you read the post I linked above, I actually made a point to not wear any of my Michigan State gear to Wisconsin after their heart-breaking loss.
I don't know if you remember from last weekend, I said you might want to pay attention to the Tennessee/Alabama game. It turns out I was right. Tennessee toppled the Crimson Tide and had quite the celebration on their home field.
You should check it out here:
In other news, West Virginia edged out Baylor 43 to 40, and Colorado took California into three overtimes before finally beating them 20 to 13. Syracuse toppled North Carolina State, and the #1 Georgia Bulldogs held Vanderbilt scoreless.
TCU took Oklahoma State into two overtimes and beat them 43 to 40. Meanwhile BYU fell to Arkansas.
As I mentioned MSU took Wisconsin into two overtimes and beat them 34 to 28.
James Madison had made the top 25, but they fell to Georgia Southern this past weekend, so now they are on the brink.
The other game I said you should keep an eye on was Clemson and Florida State. The Seminoles tried, bu they just couldn't top the Tigers falling 34 to 28.
Also, hats off to Utah taking down USC this past weekend. It was only by one point, but a win is a win!
Award for the hardest hustle goes to East Carolina who beat Memphis 47 to 45, but it took them five overtimes to do it!
My niece only made it up to bad once in their game this past weekend. Unfortunately, she struck out, but it was still exciting to see her at the plate.
She spent a little bit of time playing left field. There were no balls hit her way except for a couple of foul ones.
She did pitch two excellent innings. She only gave up one run which was the fewest any pitcher gave up in their 24 to 2 beating. She got some really good comments from the coach on her performance.
It would have been cool to see her win, but I think that will happen at some point. She has a long college career ahead of her and we were really proud of how she played win or lose!
That damn USC game was my lock of the week..
Ouch. Sorry!
It's nice to see East Carolina do something finally worth talking about :)
:) Haha, yeah, we have a couple of teams in Michigan that surprise us when they do something big like that too!
