I'm still on Denver time!
You will have to forgive me, I am still coming down from the high of the past couple of weeks. High being the operative word. We were watching softball and my niece was playing softball and just about a mile above sea level. It was a challenging week for the Lasers Scarlet team, but they handled it well and I couldn't be more proud of them.
The Colorado Sparks (or Sparklers, I really don't know) tournament was epically massive. I'm not even kidding. There were something like 240 teams in the division my niece was playing in. That's just one division. There were several other divisions as well. They had games spread across the greater Denver area at pretty much every open softball field in the city.
I'm not sure how I am going to tackle these posts quite yet. There was a lot of action across four days and I don't now if I want to split it up or roll it all into one post. I will most likely split it up.
I don't remember if I covered this yet, but the ladies started off their week on July 3rd with a split losing to a Northern California team 4 to 7. They they then crushed a Colorado team 17 to 1 to finish up pool play for the day.
They say that the ball travels 10 feet further in Colorado due to the altitude. That definitely seemed to be the case. The balls were flying all over the place. I can't tell you the number of home runs I witnessed this past week.
Unfortunately, none of those came at the bat of my niece, but she had some good hits and she was solid on defense for her team. They actually went further than I expected them to, which honestly is a big shame on me moment!
I've been to what feels like a million softball games over the years, but this one felt just a little more special given the location and the circumstances. I am really looking forward to sharing all the photos I took with you over the next couple of weeks.
This post is going to be a little short again as I want to space out this content a bit. I promise in future posts I will include more photos.
You can hold me to that.
👏 Keep Up the good work on Hive ♦️ 👏
