Dragons Getting Hot!
You might remember a while ago I was talking about how my niece's university team was playing their final game of the regular season. The Tiffin Dragons were facing off against the Ashland (who knows what), and it was down to the wire.
Win both games or one game and you make it to the conference tournament. Lose both games and you are out. Thankfully, they pulled off a split in the double header and they had successfully fought their way in to the tourney.
Fast forward to yesterday when the Tiffin Dragons were paired against the number 1 seeded team in the tournament, Ohio Dominican. There is a set of softball diamonds just off the expressway north of Findlay Ohio. If you are heading north or south on I-75 you can see them on the east side of the road.
Sponsored by the Marathon Petroleum company, Marathon Diamonds is the location for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference(GMAC) Tournament.
The GMAC is comprised of 14 teams and it is safe to say that the Dragons journey through the regular conference schedule has been a bit of a rocky ride. They struggled in their pre-conference play and slowly started to pull things together towards the end of the season.
With only a handful of sweeps in their double headers, it still wasn't an easy road.
Then yesterday happened... In the first round game against the top seeded Ohio Dominican, the Tiffin Dragons stunned the conference with a 5 to 2 win! Talk about exciting! I am so pumped for my nieces team. She was texting the family last night and you could feel her excitement!
It's a double elimination tournament so Ohio Dominican still has a chance to claw their way back. I just hope the Dragons can keep up the momentum and finish strong at the end of the year.

I've got the stream ready to go right now. Ohio Dominican has another game this morning at 10 AM EST. I plan on watching that before the Tiffin game at 12:30 PM EST to see if OD is going to get bounced out of the tourney early.
I have a feeling they are going to be hungry for a win now.
Despite all of that. All that matters is Tiffin. Can the Dragons stay hot and bring the heat to Findlay? Let's hope so!
