Another Sports Filled Weekend
As the title indicates, this is going to be another sports filled weekend for @mrsbozz and I. Saturday morning we are getting up at the butt crack of dawn to head down to Findlay, OH to watch our niece play softball with her team from Tiffin University.
Actually, we probably won't get up any earlier than we do through the week, but that isn't going to make it any easier. You see, we need to probably get up at 4 AM so we can get on the road by 6 AM to make it through Ann Arbor before the traffic picks up for the U of M football game at noon.
The first game down in Findlay starts at 10:00, so that should give us four hours to make the three hour drive. I like having that little buffer in case those silly Wolverine fans get a little over zealous about their tailgating.
I've driven through Ann Arbor when there is a U of M football game happening, and it is not fun at all. In fact, it is one of the reasons I hate Ann Arbor with a passion that knows no bounds.
This won't be our first time visiting Marathon Fields which sits just a bit North of Findlay right off I-75. If you have ever driven through Ohio on I-75, you have likely passed the fields. You can see them from the expressway.
The facility is actually quite nice and although there isn't a ton of shade, I am looking forward to visiting it again. The good thing is, the games are at 10 and 12, so it shouldn't get too hot while we are down there.
This field is where the University of Findlay plays their home games and it is also where the conference has their playoffs each year. Given their close proximity, Tiffin and Findlay are rivals, so it should be a pretty good game.
I am looking forward to seeing my niece get some time on the field. She has been working hard for this more than half her life.
Meanwhile, tomorrow at 3:30 PM, the Michigan State Spartans will be taking on Maryland for their first conference football game of the season. I know I probably won't make it home in time to catch it, but assuming the game is on broadcast TV this week (unlike last week) I will likely DVR it and watch it at double speed when we get home.
Like Northwestern, Maryland is always a wild card for me and I am not sure how they are going to handle the loss last week paired with the news that their coach was fired.
Different coaches have different styles and the players that were recruited under the past coach might not fit as well with the new coach that is suddenly thrust into the position. It will be interesting to see how the season unfolds for the Spartans.
Finally, on Sunday, the Detroit Lions play at 1:00 PM against the Atlanta Falcons.
That loss last weekend to Seattle was rough and I am hoping they are going to have a fire lit under them coming into this week. It's probably going to be a bit tough because Atlanta is riding the wave from their clutch win last week over Green Bay.
In any event, it is going to be an exciting weekend and I am looking forward to giving you a full recap next week when I am back.
Have an awesome weekend!
Good luck on the matches. Hope the team that you want wins!
Thank you! I hope so too!
