the river sparkles
I used to think that I needed time to be creative.
In fact, I think that’s a fairly common misconception about creativity.
But since having three children, working six days a week and plenty of overtime for years, I find myself much more productive and creative than I was when I was single and had loads of free time.
There are, of course, many creative activities that do take time and that are much easier to do with the appropriate tools and space, but to use lack of time as an excuse to not create, I think that is a mistake.
You begin with what you have, the tools, the materials and the pockets of time that are at your disposal, and you find a way.
From there, maybe you can make a better space for yourself, maybe you can buy yourself the tools and materials that you really want to work with, and maybe, just maybe you can earn yourself more time to spend on your creative pursuits.
What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
the train tracks lead to
infinity
the river sparkles
eyes I can’t look into
in front of our house
my son says bye bye
to turn on
the AC
I build my shelves
with character
since you’ve told me your stories
nighttime rain
flying so high
straight into the storm
Greetings @boxcarblue ,
'where I stand
the train tracks lead to
infinity'
Oh @boxcarblue , so true..but infinity to where...I chose Heaven...and anyone else can as well.....it is faith alone in Christ alone for salvation.
How your words do speak so vividly is amazing...thank you!
With regard to your query....I quite agree....'pockets of time' (your perfect choice of words) setting your mind categorically to the task at hand...can be very productive.
Kind Regards to you and your good lady,
Bleujay
Infinity to where, that’s an interesting question. I’ve never thought of infinity as a place per se, more just an endlessness, something that goes on and on.
As for creativity, yes, I find that moving your desire to create into your daily awareness and coupling it with goal or a deadline so that you must take action at some point is very powerful. It allows me to find and work with the pockets of time that come to me.
Nice poem as always. I find creativity comes sporadically and can hit at any moment. I've woken up in the middle of the night with great ideas that I've actually incorporated into products in the past. I love that second picture with sunshine California/ surf even though I have always hated surfing!
That was a miniature display set up in the nook of the wall of my daughter’s dance school. It’s probably meant to hold mail or books or something else while you put on your shoes and fumble with your keys, but someone had turned it into a tiny beach scene.
It caught my eye.
I didn’t realize that there are people who hate surfing. Being someone who’s never done it, I just assumed that everyone loved it.
Probably because I could never get the hang of it, plus you always have to keep an eye out for other surfers to not hit them or get run over yourself!
!LOL

Thank you.
100%! Excuses or results; you can't have both. Linking productivity to free time is another one of those ridiculous tips cleverly perpetrated by certain "gurus". Today's haiku choice #1. The word "infinity" resonates deeply with me 😊
It’s interesting how much our image of how to be creative and productive, how to work, etc. is shaped by forces outside of us. There are definitely a lot of myths out there that don’t serve us well in these areas at all.
