BIBLE STUDY: Be A Good Seed.
In Matthew chapter 13:4,
NIV
In the parable, Jesus describes how some seeds fall along the path.
Paths in ancient agricultural settings were hardened by constant foot traffic and were not suitable for planting. When seeds fell on such paths, they couldn't penetrate the compacted soil.
Since the soil on the path is hard and compacted, the seeds remain on the surface. Birds come and eat them up, because the seeds do not penetrate the soil, they are exposed and vulnerable.
Birds quickly swoop in and eat them up. This represents people who hear the message of God's kingdom but do not understand their hearts are hardened or closed off, much like the hardened path, and the message does not find a place to take root. As a result, Satan, represented by the birds, easily snatches away the message from their hearts before it can make any impact.
Open your heart:
We must ensure our hearts are open and receptive to God's word. Just as a path needs to be softened to receive seeds, our hearts need to be open to receive and internalize God's truth.
Seek understanding:
Strive to understand and meditate on God's word so it can take root in your life. This understanding allows the message to take root and grow within us, transforming our protect against distractions.
Guard against influences that can harden your heart or distract you from God's truth. These distractions can prevent the word of God from flourishing in our lives.
Stay Blessed.
