A BUNCH OF LOCAL COINS
(Edited)

Some of these are called Kuna, others are Lipas.

I changed them in Photoshop here, to make them look uniformly golden. I like the way the coins look in this photograph.

Here I continued playing with the options in Photoshop. As you can see, it was time to put the coins through some serious distortions.

Here you can see one single Kuna. Kuna means the marten. You know, the little predator from the Mustelidae family. Kuna is still the Croatian currency but is near its end. The Euro is coming soon. Very, very soon.

Every coin, smaller in size and especially in value, than one Kuna is called Lipa. Here you can see one of those Lipas. While Kunas have animals engraved on them, the Lipas are all about the vegetation. Lipa means the Linden tree.

You can see a Tobacco plant on the Lipa in the previous photograph. On this one, you can see the oak.

Here you can take a look at the other side of the one Kuna coin. The bird is a nightingale.

You can't buy much with a bunch of these coins but you sure can make a fairly wide variaty of shapes with them. Here you can see some kind of heart.

I tried to make a key here.

_This is the same shot with no Photoshop coloration involved.
AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK._
Here you can see a bit of my local, Croatian currency photographed during the winter of 2014. The weather must have been bad. It was probably a boring and gray period. No place to go and nothing better to do. I mean, that's the only fairly reasonable explanation. Why else should I do something like that? Photographing these mundane coins that can only make the wallet havier without adding much purchasing power.

I am a bit of a numismatist) and I have a few of your coins, I remember that there is definitely a marten!
Yes 🙂The marten is the main symbol. The totem animal of the Croatian economy.
I didn't know that, thanks for the interesting fact!
Apparently there are a lot of these animals living in your country?

sHAME ON ME, but I dont have a single Hrvatska coin in my collection! really. not a single Kuna or duhan. they look so lovely! especially after #2 photoshop manipulation ;))))) pure pirate treasure!
a !BEER for you, my friend.
😃Cheers.
I too owned an impressive collection of coins, many of them rare and silver.
But I sold them to a collector because of the price I received.
Today I'm sorry I did that.
And how about foreign currencies, do you collect them?

No. I don't collect these either. I spend them. I'm not good at collecting stuff. I tried a couple of times as a kid, but soon the things that should be collected under my control go lost, broken, sold, given, or forgotten.
I can only be a user, not a collector.
Croatia will get € on January 1st so this will become a rarity soon.... and worth more :)
Very cool!
It's a coin which is almost the same as our Indonesian coin.
I had a collection of coins mostly from the 1970s and 1980s and a few from the 1930s. I still have them, but I don't know in which part of the house they are idle. Maybe the ones from the 1930s might have some value!
I think that the civil coin exchanges in the pictures look nice and I think they are the product of a subtle thought. Sometimes things that we see as unnecessary can be interesting.
It's cool to see old stuff after years, decades, or centuries have passed. To see these old everyday objects from time to time is definitively a cool and inspiring experience. If there is some material value in them even better, but even without that, just to experience something authentic from the past has value.
You are right about that, the oldest one of them was the one with sentimental value from my grandfather.
Cool! You played well with the photoshop. 😉
Greetings!
