Preparing for Halloween in Canada! ππ»
Last night the family and I decided to go out in search of some Halloween decorations! π October 31st is quickly approaching, and thankfully a few of the neighborhood houses partook this year.
Now, I say thankfully because I do not know what Halloween is like in other parts of the world, but here it is a fairly popular holiday. Or, at least, it used to be... Over recent years (if you really want to put a timeline on it -- since COVID! π) there has been a dramatic decrease in the amount of trick-or-treaters and decorations...
When I was a child, every neighborhood -- every house, even! -- would be all dolled up in anticipation for the young trick-or-treaters. It was a time where if you didn't decorate, you would be ostracized by the community! Children would be out from 6PM - 11PM, and the streets would be filled with screams and laughter.
Nowadays (according to my dad because I am not a homeowner π
), you're lucky to get even 10 children to visit your house. Again, quite a dramatic difference from, say, 50 children!
Anyway, enough of my babbling... Here are some of the photos that we took last night π
(I really enjoyed this setup! π Here, you will see a body, wrapped in a garbage bag, hanging upside down from a tree, while right beside him, a pig-man prepares... meat of some kind π)
(This house had the snake from Beetlejuice, which I absolutely loved! Beetlejuice is a very popular Halloween theme here, along with The Nightmare Before Christmas)
(Hopefully this house isn't hard to figure out -- it's the Wizard Of Oz, featuring 12 foot skeletons! π I featured this photo in a local Facebook group and everybody loved it! Here you will see the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Dorothy, Toto, the Wicked Witch of the East in the background, and even some Munchkins!)
(This house was very creative because if you look very closely at the body bag, you will notice that it is a line of dolls carrying it away! π)
(There were lots of creepy dolls setup at this house as well, to the point where our oldest daughter was terrified to go near the house...)
(She was brave enough to take a photo with the inflatable cat though! π)
(Double, double, toil and trouble.. Fire burn and cauldron bubble... Cooking a skeleton)
(I really enjoyed this house, I love the purple ambiance... And of course, the Grim Reaper on the roof was pretty terrifying!)
(This house is a legend in the community -- every year this man decks out his property with all of his horror figures he has collected. You'll be able to see every single character, including Jason, Freddy, Michael, and The Creeper...)
Those were all of the houses we found last night! π This Halloween will be a special one because it is our oldest daughter's first time trick-or-treating! π She has been Snow White, last year she was a witch, and this year she wanted to be a firefighter ππ©βπ

So cool! I really liked the decor. It's scray. Im new to canada, im seeing people are decorating their homes because Halloween is on the corner but yours decoration is the best among what ive seen so far.
Happy friday
So jealous, here in Italy we decorated the house but usually only inside and with few decorations some pumpkins and bats or spider webs, the Canadian decorations looks amazing like the ones we see only in movies ππ
