FLYING SQUID. Drawing with the fine liner technique. Splinterlands Art Contest SPT W-271

Hello to all my dear friends🤗 hope you are well wherever you are.

It is a pleasure to be here sharing with everyone, my drawing in the fine liner technique, in the Splinterlands weekly art contest, making this time the character of the card (FLYING SQUID) flying squid. The nickname of the squids when referring to them as flying squids, is because they had the ability to launch themselves from the water to the surface for long distances shooting ink at their prey to blind them and attack them with their tentacles.

History of the letter:

It is said that on the high seas, the captain of the Chaos Legion watched on the horizon as the gray sky blended with the surf as a flock of so-called seagulls approached. But something was wrong. These white creatures had no wings, but tentacles.
They were squid that attacked with ink, blinding the crew. The captain struggled but was caught by one of the tentacles killing him in a horrible way. Tragedy loomed over the ship lost in a sea of ink and despair.

I was inspired by this story, the man instead of a saber, I drew an axe.

Es un placer estar aquí compartiendo con todos, mi dibujo en la técnica fine liner, en el concurso semanal de arte de Splinterlands, realizando en esta ocasión el personaje de la tarjeta (FLYING SQUID) calamar volador. El apodo de los calamares al referirse a ellos como calamares voladores, es porque tenían la habilidad de lanzarse desde el agua a la superficie por largas distancias disparando tinta a sus presas para cegarlas y atacarlas con sus tentáculos.

Historia de la carta:

Se dice que en alta mar, el capitán de la Legión del Caos observaba en el horizonte como el cielo gris se mezclaba con el oleaje mientras una bandada de supuestas gaviotas se acercaba. Pero algo iba mal. Estas criaturas blancas no tenían alas, sino tentáculos.
Eran calamares que atacaban con tinta, cegando a la tripulación. El capitán luchó pero fue atrapado por uno de los tentáculos matándole de una forma horrible. La tragedia se cernió sobre el barco perdido en un mar de tinta y desesperación.

Me inspiré en esta historia, el hombre en vez de un sable, dibujé un hacha.

To make this work I used a number 3 pad because that is where I make the drawings to frame them, I used a number 5 mechanical pencil, eraser, ink pencils for fine strokes and charcoal.

First I started drawing on my sketch pad, with mechanical pencil number 5, making an illustrative image. Then I started working with the fineliner in various sizes.

With these ink pencils I created the outline of my drawing, then worked on the shadows and lighting to give shape to my illustration.

I created each part with a lot of patience, defining each part of the boat, the crew and the squid by drawing inks.

Then I wanted to give another perspective to my drawing by working on the dimension and texture of the scales, it was something that took me some time but I was able to achieve it very well.

So I finished my drawing with the result that you have been able to appreciate. I really liked it a lot, I confess that working on this art is for me a way to de-stress. I say goodbye to all of you until another opportunity wishing you much success.
