The Sory

Indonesia is currently busy with the election season. There are three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates who have officially nominated themselves, supported by competing and coalition parties. Last night the General Election Commission held a presidential candidate debate which was broadcast live on several television channels, and I was one of the prospective voters who watched the debate.

What I watched last night, the debate was nothing more than a place to make promises, a place to sell oneself, and was nothing more than the previous presidential candidate debates. The promise of prosperity for the people will immediately disappear right after they are elected, and for the next five years the people will again scream and demand the realization of the promise. This is a scream that, as in the past, is often met with repressive actions by security forces, collective corruption of state officials, while the people, especially in areas rich in natural resources, are left to be driven out of their own land by large companies in the name of investment.

From the existing facts plus the promises of the presidential candidates in last night's debate, I tried to articulate them in this small work.

So creative. I love that it's so expressive. Here in the Philippines elections can also get dirty and it's just the same as you mentioned... they disappear after election hahah. This work reflects that. :D
