YouTube censors protests in China

Souce

YouTube appears to be moderating content related to the recent anti-lockdown protests in China, one YouTuber says he took a test to see which words demonetized his videos and this is what he found.

The YouTuber put YouTube's demonetization rules to the test by making a video about the anti-lockdown protests that took place in various Chinese cities in late November and tried uploading it using different titles.

The test shows that titles that refer to the protests in certain ways are demonetized, that means the content creator can't earn the revenue generated by the ads that are shown during the video, by demonetizing it the video will be shown to fewer users , being demonetized restricts the number of people who can view the video.

The youtuber says that he tried words like emperor Xí, which refers to the leader of the Chinese regime and the video was demonetized, he replaced the word with plain emperor and it turned out fine.

His essay also found that words like “blank paper movement” and various provinces seem to trigger demonetization, the protests in China are also known as the blank paper movement, because many protesters held blank sheets of paper so as not to be identified. by Chinese security system.

The white paper movement was carried out in various provinces, and the words "multiple provinces" does not work, the words "multiple provinces" are not allowed, the youtuber criticized the platform for allegedly moderating content related to the Chinese regime, its video generated more than 400,000 views in two days, this makes sense if it was a Chinese platform, but it is an American company.
