Hola chicos, feliz lunes e inicio de semana. Espero hayan pasado un excelente fin de semana, por mi parte aproveche que venía con día festivo incluido, es decir, el lunes; por lo que junto a unos amigos decidimos viajar a una ciudad cerca de Barranquilla. Como uno de nuestros amigos tenía familia en la ciudad de Santa Marta, los cuales nos podían recibir iniciamos nuestro viaje hacía este destino.

Hi guys, happy Monday and start of the week. I hope you had a great weekend, for my part I took advantage that came with a holiday included, that is, Monday; so along with some friends we decided to travel to a city near Barranquilla. As one of our friends had family in the city of Santa Marta, which could receive us we started our trip to this destination.

El viaje empezó a las 8:30am del día sábado ya que queríamos aprovechar la luz del día y por supuesto, poder admirar el lindo paisaje. Lo que verán en la primera foto es el puente Pumarejo, el cual debemos cruzar para salir de Barranquilla; el día estuvo bastante soleado aunque con una que otra nube gris y a pesar de que la carretera estaba un poco llena de carros no había tanto tráfico como pensamos que habría debido a que en estos días cuando es festivo la gente aprovecha para viajar, por lo que en resumen, les puedo decir que el viaje estuvo muy cómodo.

The trip started at 8:30am on Saturday as we wanted to take advantage of the daylight and of course, to admire the beautiful scenery. What you will see in the first picture is the Pumarejo bridge, which we must cross to leave Barranquilla; the day was quite sunny although with a few gray clouds and although the road was a little full of cars there was not as much traffic as we thought there would be because in these days when it is a holiday people take the opportunity to travel, so in short, I can tell you that the trip was very comfortable.

Como salimos temprano no nos dio chance de desayunar, así que como todo turista decidimos hacer parada en un pueblito que nos quedaba de camino para así poder comer lo más rápido y típico en la costa que son los fritos. Por lo que haciendo parada en ciénaga, que está a 15 minutos de Santa Marta llegamos a uno de los tantos restaurantes que había y cada quien pidió de comer, por mi parte me pedí una empanada de carne molida y una malta.

Así que, luego de desayunar, reposarnos un rato, estirar las piernas y dejar que las perritas dieran un mini paseo, continuamos con nuestro viaje.

As we left early we had no chance to have breakfast, so like all tourists we decided to stop in a small town that was on our way so we could eat the quickest and most typical on the coast which are the fried food. So stopping in Ciénaga, which is 15 minutes from Santa Marta, we arrived at one of the many restaurants that were there and everyone ordered something to eat, for my part I ordered a ground beef empanada and a malta.

So, after having breakfast, resting for a while, stretching our legs and letting the dogs take a mini walk, we continued with our trip.

Pasados unos 15-18 minutos nos encontramos con el cartel que nos avisaba que estábamos pronto a entrar en Santa Marta así que alegremente esta ciudad nos recibió con un hermoso paisaje lleno de montañas y un gran cielo azul (Aunque esto último no duró tanto) en total el tiempo del viaje fue de una hora y media que personalmente hablando, se sintió muy corta.

After about 15-18 minutes we came across the sign that warned us that we were soon to enter Santa Marta so happily this city welcomed us with a beautiful landscape full of mountains and a great blue sky (Although the latter did not last that long) in total the travel time was an hour and a half that personally speaking, it felt very short.

Llegamos a casa de la familia de nuestro amigo para dejar las maletas, descansar un rato y comprar la comida, mecatos y bebidas para estos días. Debo decirles que el día se empezó a poner un tanto oscuro y realmente pensé que era porque el lugar donde nos estábamos quedando tenía una gran montaña atrás, pero no, estaba equivocada.

Al salir de casa nos agarraron unas cuantas gotas de lluvia, las nubes grises seguían acompañándonos, más sin embargo a pesar del clima intermitente decidimos seguir nuestro camino y llegar a nuestro destino que era la playa.

We arrived at our friend's family's house to leave our bags, rest for a while and buy the food, mecatos and drinks for these days. I must tell you that the day started to get a bit dark and I really thought it was because the place where we were staying had a big mountain behind, but no, I was wrong.

As we left the house we were caught by a few drops of rain, the gray clouds were still with us, but despite the intermittent weather we decided to continue on our way and reach our destination which was the beach.

Llegamos a las playas del Zuana la cual nos quedaba a 5 minutos cruzando la calle, pero nosotros decidimos irnos en el carro debido al clima. Llegamos y parecía que media ciudad estuviera en la playa, estaba demasiado lleno de turistas el lugar y por ende no había carpa desocupada, así que decidimos caminar hasta el final de la playa y sentarnos un poco alejados.

Unos minutos después encontramos un lugar bastante tranquilo y solitario, así que optamos por resguardarnos debajo de un árbol y admirar la playa desde allí por si llovía más fuerte. Aunque el cielo a veces se ponía claro y otras veces oscurecía decidimos olvidarnos un rato de eso y disfrutar del momento colocando un poco de música.

Algo que me gustó mucho y debo destacar de la playa es que se encuentra bastante limpia y hay socorristas al pendiente de los turistas.

We arrived at the beaches of Zuana which was 5 minutes across the street, but we decided to go in the car because of the weather. We arrived and it seemed that half the city was on the beach, the place was too full of tourists and therefore there was no unoccupied tent, so we decided to walk to the end of the beach and sit a little away.

A few minutes later we found a quite quiet and lonely place, so we decided to take shelter under a tree and admire the beach from there in case it rained harder. Although the sky was sometimes clear and sometimes dark, we decided to forget about it for a while and enjoy the moment by playing some music.

Something I really liked and should highlight about the beach is that it is quite clean and there are lifeguards watching out for tourists.

Algunos aprovecharon para irse a bañar en el mar ya que algo característico de esta playa es su agua fría, otros tomaron una siesta debajo del árbol y yo me dediqué a tomar unas cuántas fotos del lugar y a tomarme unas cuantas fotos a mi junto al mar para el post. Lo bueno del lugar donde nos instalamos es que cerca está el aeropuerto de la ciudad por lo que cada vez que un avión despegaba podíamos verlo bastante de cerca.

Some took the opportunity to go for a swim in the sea since something characteristic of this beach is its cold water, others took a nap under the tree and I dedicated myself to take a few pictures of the place and to take a few pictures of me by the sea for the post. The good thing about the place where we settled is that the airport of the city is nearby, so every time a plane took off we could see it quite close.

Se fue haciendo hora de almuerzo pero el cambio de clima no colaboró mucho por lo que empezó a serenar más fuerte, así que decidimos irnos a un acuario que quedaba cerca mientras cesaba un poco la lluvia y por supuesto, para seguir en el mood de “mar” pero claro, la experiencia en este lugar quedará para otro post.

It was getting time for lunch but the change of weather didn't help much, so it started to be a bit cooler, so we decided to go to an aquarium that was close by while the rain stopped and of course, to continue in the "sea" mood, but of course, the experience in this place will be for another post.

Debo decir que aunque no demoramos mucho en la playa debido al clima la verdad es que disfrutamos el momento ya que todo hace parte del paseo, las playas del Zuana tiene olas muy tranquilas y la brisa es bastante refrescante, algo que no me gusto mucho fue el color del mar ya que siento se ha ido perdiendo ese tono cristalino que caracteriza el agua del Mar de esta ciudad.

Algo que note es que esta playa viene siendo el patio o la cola de muchos hoteles turísticos, lo cual es un punto a favor para los turistas y claro, para los hoteles. I must say that although we did not stay long on the beach due to the weather the truth is that we enjoyed the moment since everything is part of the walk, the beaches of Zuana have very calm waves and the breeze is quite refreshing, something that I did not like much was the color of the sea as I feel it has been losing that crystalline tone that characterizes the water of the sea of this city.

Something I noticed is that this beach has been the patio or the tail of many tourist hotels, which is a plus for tourists and of course, for the hotels.
