What A Difference Water Makes, In A GroVid22 Garden

"I'm not dead yet!" - Monty Python

A week or two ago, if you asked me, I was fairly certain this Cucumber plant was dead. It's demised. Deader than a doorknob. It's expired. It's a late Cucumber. It's an Ex-cucumber.

But, I was wrongo, wasn't I?

Above: On the Spacemaster 80 Cucumber plant, I see a dozen male and half dozen female blossoms. Plus, two fully germinated Cucumber. Including this one, larger than my middle finger, and fatter, too.

Below: the Cucumber, a week ago.

Above: White Cherry tomato
Below: Tigerella Tomato, picked tonight, and a few more on the vine

I tied up the cucumber vine, as well as some of the tomato vine tops.

Below: Some Jubilee Tomato, unripe, on the vine ![]()

Above: Today's Harvest: some White Cherry, The Jubilee, a few Yellow Pear, and some Sweetie Cherry. Oh, and one lone Blueberry Cherry Tomato

I am really feeling thankful that the drought is passed, and now, the plants are again, bearing fruit!

How is your GroVid22 Garden GROWING</b
Gardening To DO:
  • WATER, water, water...
  • I just planted some Fall Snow Peas and Golden Peas, as well as some Zucchini, and Muncher Cucumber.
  • For Kicks, i planted 6 Beefsteak tomato seeds. They say 55-60 days until harvest, I have 75 or so until first expected frost, so let us see.
LOTS More to come, from my GroVid22 Gardens!

Nice tomatoes, Blue! Is the splitting on the Tigarella due to swings between dry and wet weather? That cucumber looks dangerous 😱 !ALIVE !PIZZA - I came to your post from PYPT :-)

Absolutely,... the tomato grows slowly in dry weather, and a sudden influx of water causes it to GROW so Fast, the skins split!

BTW, sometimes, no matter how dangerous, a Cucumber is JUST a cucumber

😂😱😂 - will bear that in mind next time I wrestle one from a plant... still I think I would like to try find a smooth variety... my last lot I grew were a bit spiky too but not nearly as dangerous as yours look !LOLZ

it's not as bad as it looks.
I run my hand along it, and those spikes simply fall off. They're not thorns.
It's Spacemaster 80 Variety, a straight 8 inch cuke, slightly later season showing, and slightly lower seeds count.
