Drying Garden Herbs for Saving
Dried Herbs from my Garden!
I cook. No surprise if you follow my channel here.
I mean, I simply LOVE to cook. AND, I LOVE to use my own ingredients, including my own herbs from my garden. I grow 2 kinds of Basil: Sweet Basil, and Dark Opal Basil, 2 Oregano: Greek Oregano and Italian Oregano, celery, Sage, thyme, Parsley, and more. This video shows you how I take my herbs from Seed to Plant to Dried Herb mixes!

Most of you know, I prefer to grow my own food, locally. It's healthier for my family, and for the planet. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking, planes, trains, and boats, to get fresh foods to my table.
And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.

Mint daughter plant that your grandfather planted in 1918! very cool. I also like your custom herb mix. And who doesn't love the smell of crushed herbs 😉
My grandfather brought one suit case, the suit he wore and his hat, and a mint plant from Greece, when we came thru Ellis Island. We Greeks call Grandfathers "Papou" and so, the plant is Papou's mint. My mom dug up and split the plant in their yard, decades ago. Since then, I have rooted many daughter plants and given them to my aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as nephews/nieces.
That is an incredible story 👍
I've been the occasional gardener in my lifetime. I have a section on the back side of the house that I think would make an ideal herb and garden spot. I'll have to fence off the one side that is open to deer in order for it to work. Which is something I've been thinking about for about a year. I can use the winter months to prepare for a spring planting season. Let's see if I have a green thumb or not.
I'd say definitely fence to avoid the deer, but also: deer don't like mint, oregano, sage, and thyme!
Wow! It's good to see that you grow lots of herbs. I am not too familiar with this herbs but I am certain they are good. Also, it is good that you prepare your own food by yourself, that's the safest way to live.
thyme, I imagine you are familiar with, as a spice. Maybe Oregano? The others are mostly middle eastern spices and flavors, used in cooking.
