Blue's 2 Minute Tips - Growing Basil Part 2
(Edited)
Follow along as I show you the next steps in my Basil Growing.
Earlier, I planted Basil seeds, and showed how I start the seeds to germination.
Growing Basil for how I sow Basil Seeds and Germinate them.
I cook a LOT with Basil, so, growing it and having fresh basil in my kitchen is a big deal for me. Here, I show part 2 of my process, once the seeds have started, and are ready for transplanting.
Having Fresh, Locally grown food is healthier for my family, and for the planet. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking to get fresh foods to my table.
And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.

I also make use of basil a lot. It's a tasty herb and it gives us pesto 😌. I like mixing basil pesto and cream cheese or plain dips.
Thanks for the insightful video 🐸
When I grow LOTS of basil, I usually make Pesto and put it into these tiny ice cube trays to freeze. Then, take the cubes into a storage bag in freezer. When I ened it, I can grab a cube for seasoning, or thaw as I would use fresh pesto
That's smart, you always have home made pesto when you need it. 🌱
EXACTLY... and we need it a lot in this house!
Very clear and concise how-to. We grew basil and lemon basil. What is dark opal basil like? Is it used for the contrasting color or is the flavor/use different?
I find it slightly less sweet than my regular sweet basil. I usually use it for color in salads, etc. If you cook it for any length, it turns back to green.
I've tried to grow few times, but pot was bought and none of survived.
Few watering and puf gone. However, planing on seeding them again in the future.
Those are looking nice and juicy.
It happens. Don't give up!
Yay! 🤗

I like to have basil plants at home not only for cooking, but also for the aroma it leaves in the air. Maybe it makes me feel like I'm an Italian chef...haha.
How nice that you can have your plants at home. Nothing better than cooking with spices that you know are fresh and pure.
yes, not only for the cooking, but I too, enjoy the scent that plants give in my kitchen
