Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge — Unleashing the Underestimated: Spotlight on Splinterlands’ Forgotten Warriors!
HELLO to all Splinterlands readers of my humble blog.👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Welcome to yet another week of the "new" iteration of the Splinterlands Weekly Challenges 😜. The "old" Battle Challenges are now a thing of the past (at least for now?) and they have been replaced with the "Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Battle of the Forgotten Cards".
For any old Hivers/Splinterlands players who've just come back and are confused, fret not! Even with the name and format tweaks, right at it's core, battles are still the foundation of these posts.
In this week's edition of my Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Battle of the Forgotten Cards, I will do something drastically different from my usual battle showcases. Instead of war, I will become a peaceful teacher showing all new players how to most effectively navigate the topic of "Battle of the Forgotten Cards".
In the ever-evolving battlefield of Splinterlands, some cards become household names, consistently finding themselves in meta-defining strategies. Others, however, linger in the shadows, rarely picked, often dismissed, yet brimming with untapped potential. I’ve always believed that the best victories come from unexpected plays—surprising opponents with an unconventional strategy or catching them off guard with a seemingly “weak” card. Today, I want to highlight some of the most underrated cards in Splinterlands, break down their strengths, and discuss how they can be used effectively to claim victory. If you’re looking to shake up your battles and gain an edge over predictable meta decks, this one’s for you.
That being said, here's some tips and tricks from Yours Truly which will hopefully help any new player who comes across this guide. Read on to find out more! 😜

No matter! I present to you — Battle of the Forgotten Cards.
So without further ado, let me introduce how best to navigate this seemingly impossible task to you! 🎉

⚔️🛡️ Unleashing the Underestimated: Spotlight on Splinterlands’ Forgotten Warriors 🛡️⚔️

With all that being said, here is how I would advice ALL players on how you can capitalize on some of these simple strategies!
Underrated Cards and Their Strategic Applications:
Gobson Bomber – The Silent Nuke
- This card rarely sees action in ranked matches, but in the right hands, it can be an absolute game-changer. Its Recharge ability lets it deal double damage every other turn—a high-risk, high-reward mechanic that can turn the tide of a battle if timed correctly.
- A major advantage? Camouflage. This means Gobson Bomber stays hidden until it attacks, keeping it safe from pesky snipe or opportunity attackers.
- I’ve personally had matches where my opponent underestimated the threat of a hidden Gobson Bomber, only to see it land a devastating hit that wiped out their key tank. When combined with damage boosters like Yodin Zaku or Lux Vega, its explosive potential becomes even scarier.
Venari Wavesmith – The Magic Wall
- When it was first released, Venari Wavesmith was a staple in Water decks, thanks to its Protect ability, which grants +2 armor to all allies. But as time went on, players moved away from it, forgetting just how crucial extra armor can be against magic-heavy lineups.
- Personally, I’ve started using this card again in battles where I anticipate my opponent running a glass-cannon magic setup. That extra armor makes all the difference, allowing my team to survive just a bit longer and deal more damage before getting wiped out.
- If you’re struggling against fast magic teams, giving Venari Wavesmith another shot might just be what you need.
Goblin Psychic – The Healer with a Punch
- In a game where brute force often overshadows sustainability, healers like Goblin Psychic are sometimes overlooked. But here’s the thing—this card doesn’t just heal, it also attacks.
- It has Tank Heal, meaning it restores a portion of your frontline’s health every turn, making it an invaluable support piece in prolonged battles.
- My favorite use case? Pairing it with a high-health tank like Mycelic Slipspawn or Unicorn Mustang. The synergy allows my tank to soak up an incredible amount of damage while my backline keeps the offense going.
- If you think sustain strategies are boring, try playing a match where your opponent keeps throwing attacks at your frontline while you casually out-heal their damage. It’s chef’s kiss levels of satisfying.
Venari Spellsmith – The Buff Remover
- One of the most annoying things in Splinterlands is dealing with enemy monsters that have Shield, Void, or other stat-boosting abilities. That’s where Venari Spellsmith comes in.
- With Dispel, it removes all positive buffs from an enemy monster, completely neutralizing their advantages.
- I can’t count how many times I’ve gone up against a Life Splinter deck stacked with Divine Shield and Armor Up, only to have Venari Spellsmith strip those away like they were never there.
- When paired with other magic attackers, Venari Spellsmith ensures that no enemy defense stays up for long.
Uraeus – The Budget Assassin
- This neutral monster has the Sneak ability, meaning it directly targets the enemy’s backline, often catching weaker support monsters off guard.
- While it might not seem flashy, Uraeus is a fantastic low-mana option when you need to add a bit of pressure to an otherwise balanced team.
- I’ve won several battles just by sneaking Uraeus into my lineup. Many players overlook their backline’s defenses, and having a surprise attacker back there can be devastating.
- If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable way to snipe out enemy healers or damage dealers, this is the card to use.
Personal Thoughts and Reflections:
One of the biggest mistakes Splinterlands players make is sticking to the meta and ignoring the potential of unconventional picks. Sure, the most used cards are popular for a reason, but there’s something incredibly satisfying about winning with a deck that your opponent didn’t expect.
For me, the joy of Splinterlands isn’t just in climbing the ranks but in the creativity of battle. When I find an underrated card and make it work against the meta, that’s when I feel like I’ve truly mastered the game. These forgotten warriors may not always be the flashiest, but in the right hands, they can be the key to victory.
So next time you’re setting up for battle, don’t just follow the crowd. Give one of these underrated cards a chance—and watch as your opponent learns a lesson in never underestimating the underdog.

💭🧐💭Ending Thoughts💭🧐💭

I definitely can appreciate Battle of the Forgotten Cards and how it changes the dynamics of usual gameplay. This is one of those situations which can be turned into a huge advantage if surrounded with the proper strategies. The role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. 👍🏻
I hope this article has given you some insight into its potential. 😉
