Splinterlands On Hive. A Relationship That Needs More Harnessing for the Good of the Game.
I got into Splinterlands on Steem initially and this continued onto Hive where the Splinterlands Community has 10,843 subscribed and surprisingly only 597 active users at time of writing. Splinterlands post all their updates and townhall meetings on Hive to this day , carry out their announcements and their marketing on Hive. The famous SPT token was where it all started and users get these tokens for writing about Splinterlands. But I have always found a disconnect between Splinterlands users and Hive users and both parties have grown apart in recent years. Most of the interaction around the game is now on Discord which is fine and that ain't going to change.
But how much of Splinterland's funds are coming across from Hive via the current userbase.
It would be interesting to see the stats on HBD converting into credits to buy Splinterlands assets. I get the majority of Splinterlands users do not post on Hive anymore and the majority of Hive users do not play Splinterlands but there is an untapped source here that we need to harness for the good of the game.
Let us take yours truly who posts quite regularly on Hive. I always liked Splinterlands but the idea of spending real money on cards did not appeal to me as my wife would think I was mental for buying funny little monster JPEG's for cash money. I am also not 12 years of age. I am 42 and no offence towards the game and its dev but it is a bit nuance to be into a game of this type without being some bit of a nerd. She thinks I am mental when I am engrossed in a battle anyway so the least she knows about Splinterlands the better. For fear of telling all our friends that I am Comic Book Guy, this means I had to grind for cards another way. From Hive I have earned over 5000 HP in post rewards over the past 2 years. Rewards and based on 50% post rewards and 50% liquid HBD rewards so as soon as my rewards for writing silly posts arrive I transfer the liquid HBD into DEC or credits and spend my rewards building up my deck. Just check my wallet for proof. Some weeks I would save up my post rewards so I could buy a legendary (I saved up 3 weeks for a Kron the Undying for example). He was 80 quid back then. Not one penny of real cash money has been put into my deck and I have built quite the squadron. I have levelled up quite a bit as well and I operate mainly on the silver/ gold levels although the last few weeks have been great for the likes of me as we can hit diamond if we put our minds to it.
So you see Hive has enabled me to compete and build up quite a decent deck over the last couple of years by spending no money. People don't want to spend normal cash on NFT's. They have no problem spending crypto. If you look at the likes of Sol and Base , getting an NFT for free is the goal. Spending money on it and all of a sudden interest wanes. Splinterlands has trouble onboarding users due to maybe the financial element involved on getting started and leveling up. Money doesn't grow on trees now does it. But yet with Hive , money does grow on trees and rejuvenates every 24 hours. Many of the Splinterlands whales are awash with Hive as well. Splinterland's has quite a bit of Hive doing nothing. Let's just say I made a Splinterlands post and I get $10 from the post. I am going to spend the liquid on cards. Simple as that. I doubt I am the only one. I reckon quite alot of users spend their liquid Hive on Splinterlands assets. So say the active 600 of us got together and upvoted the Hive publishers who would pledge to spend their rewards on Splinterlands assets then this would help the community and help new users get a foothold in the game like myself. Let's even get the DAO involved with a Hive stake and get them to use their 10 upvotes per day to guarantee a stream of income on a daily basis to the game. All provided good quality content and all that malarky. Get the market going again and promote a game that is on the up again. Modern cards are now as cheap as chips. Even the older cards are coming down in price which is great for the newcomer. So now if I write a post about Splinterlands and if the 600 users had us in a trail and we earn $100 per post. $50 on cards would be massive. Now I know I am merely saying to set up a voting trail. I have made Splinterlands posts and been upvoted by a Splinterlands account but it is nowhere near as valuable as when a LeoFinance or Appreciator comes to town. Also some people who get the rewards spend them on something totally different which of course is their right.
We should set up a community where the posts put in are made and upvoted for are solely used for asset purchase. This could be easily checked as we could creep the users wallet. Also as a follow on from their last post the user can show the cards they purchased in their last reward round. If they are saving for say a Llama or a Yodin then they could state this an the evidence would be clear that the reward funds are still in their wallet. It will need moderation but not much really. Hive will benefit because new users will start posting as a means to earn cards for free (well kinda). Older accounts like me will be saving for that level 5 ULOTH DHAMPIR for his triage ability.
Now the above is just an idea that would need to be ironed out and a list of rules would need to be drawn up as we all know it would be the subject for scams straight from the off. But what a treasure chest we have here on Hive to generate asset purchases on Splinterland's. Take tonight for example. I have $8.29 in rewards coming my way and I know I am going to level up one of my Rebellion summoners. Tomorrow night I am going to upgrade my Pelacor Mercenaries to a maxed out gold foil as I use him all the time and tomorrow my Spirit Hoarder needs upgrading so I can have that extra ability. All pretty painless from post rewards.
So let's start with this post. I vow to buy a MANTAROTH if this posts makes $100 on rewards. Let me be the first trial. Now I know what you are saying. I will probably end up with not enough to buy a regular foil VENARI HEATSMITH but who cares. He's not a bad little card all the same. So let's say yee! Splinterlands may as well use their big or small Hive vote to generate funds for the game. There is so much upside to this for Hive as well especially with newcomers posting more to earn assets.
It adds up nice and fast when youre posting regularly.
The two splinterlands posts a week are well worth doing and keep buying up cards.
Some of the untamed have gotten very reasonable so a good time to be buying.
Everything is on sale. It's great and a good time to get in again.

Hive rewards are mostly worth 10$ weekly if you're in reputation 69 and above 😂
Anything below and then you'll see a huge deal of curation on his or her posts or maybe they're best friends or lovers to a whale or something.
Although it is a good idea.
It'll help grow newbies and help the Splinterlands and hive community as a whole.

@blanchy! Your Content Is Awesome so I just sent 1 $BBH (Bitcoin Backed Hive) to your account on behalf of @seki1. (2/5)
People on Splinterlands often forget how it got its start, its funding, its userbase, its investors initially. I agree, there should be far more interaction between the two, and there should be people putting quality Splinterlands content on the chain, but a lot of it is just report crap that no one is actually interested in.
Totally agree . Yeah I have to say. I find your Splinterland's posts excellent because you play the game and you are not just interested at short term benefits. One of the best posters in the community.
I try to add something useful, have a bit of fun with it and also give some opinion or personal perspective. Too much content these days is devoid of any personality.
Oh - I definitely can't say that your content is devoid of personality! :D
