Classic Marble Loaf Cake | Marmorkuchen

DSC_0609.jpg
It's a delicious and simpler cake that originates in Germany.
We only need to make a simple cake batter, divide it into two equal parts, ađding cacao into one part of the batter, and into the other we add vanilla and lemon zest. For the nice yellow color of the vanilla part, I added turmeric powder.
I decorated the cake with edible broccoli flowers.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of sea salt
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 120 ml of canola oil
  • 240 ml of vegan yogurt
  • 60 ml or rice milk

For the brown part:

  • 5 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 10 tablespoons of hot water

For the yellow part:

  • 6 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons of dried lemon zest of zest of one lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

For the chocolate coating:

  • 150 g of chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons of margarine

Preparation:

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder and baking soda into a bowl. Mix well.
  2. In an electric mixer bowl, combine all the wet ingredients; canola oil, vegan yogurt and rice milk.
Add sugar and salt and mix it with an electric mixer or a whisk until the sugar dissolves.IMG_20220509_154427.jpg
  3. Start adding dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and slowly mix it. Don't add all the dry ingredients at once, but rather add it slowly.
The ingredients have to be incorporated, but don't overmix it, a few lumps of flour can stay.

  4. Divide the batter into two equal parts.
In a cup mix hot water and cacao powder. Add it to one part of the batter and slowly mix it in with a spatula.

Into the other part of batter, add lemon juice, lemon zest, turmeric powder and vanilla extract. Mix it in.

  5. Pour both of the batters into the tray.

Place it in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 35-45 minutes. When done, take it out of the tray and let it cool down.

My Cake broke a bit, but thats ok, no need to be perfect, just good. 😉
  6. In a double boiler melt the chocolate and margarine. Coat the cake with melted chocolate and decorate it with flowers.DSC_0622.jpg

Looks very nice and delicious. Adding the turmeric powder for color is smart. It really makes the yellow stand out and probably doesn't change the flavor too much since turmeric is generally so subtle.

It doesn't change the flavor and the color really looks classic.
I read about how the color of the food would make us feel in a certain vibe and they used an example how some colors of dishes would make us feel hungry.

I've heard that about colors as well.
Very cool!
