Design Improvements/Reblog Lottery

A while ago I shared a ring blanks I designed and 3d printed for my 1/10th silver Libertad, I was hoping to have gotten in casted out of silver already but have not gotten around to it, it's also not all on me I lack some of the equipment and space and so I have to rely on a friend to help me with this project.

Right above is the model of the original ring blank, it did the trick but I was not a fan of how the band came out being even, so I figured while I wait for my friend I might as well try to make it look a little nicer.

I managed to get the band to taper a little toward the end just like I wanted.

Can't show you what it looks like with the coin because I left the coin with my friend hoping that maybe he give it a go but nothing yet.

I made a new version with a slightly smaller coin an 80% Canadian dime about 2 mm smaller than the 1/10 Libertad and I love how it came out the taper on the band is even better and I like how it also tapers into the coin, since my finger is about the size of the Libertad this is not necessary or even an option but I think it looks really nice.

I think these silver dime rings could be a hit and reasonably affordable to the customer, (with the blank being made of silver too) and US dimes could work too and that actually got me thinking I got this lame bluenose dime I can get a Mercury dime in there ❤

What coin would you like to see me make a blank for ?

Is your friend in Canada? I have a proof 1/10 Libertad that could be fun to turn into a ring.

Yes he is, he just lives a bit far and busy with all sort of other projects, once I have success with mine I can hook it up for sure the only thing I can offer right now is a 3d printed version and that's sort of lame walking around with a part plastic ring 😂

This is nifty, but it left me curious - how does one get the coin inside? Does it just slide in from the back, and get held in by pressure from the finger below it? Or is it designed such that when the final version is created, the coin will be more permanently mounted?

That is a great question, well right now it's being held with some sticky tac and you are correct it slides in through the back, I am going to look into making a screw like system so a cap would screw in the back to hold the coin in place that way it would be possible to swap for another coin of the same diameter !BBH !PIMP

The Mercury dime sounds like a natural but, since you're designing the ring, you could also design your own silver round to fit. Maybe a Bitcoin symbol @bitcoinman.

😂 that's part of the plan I want to make a ring that can be swappable and I can put in different design coins and rounds with the same diameter and will look into making those rounds too

Not being a ring (or jewelry) guy definitely not for me. But maybe a nice shiny Mercury dime would look pretty cool! Mexican 1/10 ounce looks good in there too!
