Why Consistency Matters For Success
Life is a crazy thing and random things can happen at any moment. Some of them wonderful while others not so much. But there's one thing I learned over the years and something I now live my life by and that's consistency.
By human nature we are a creature of habit. You'll often find snipers or drone operators that watch people on the regular and find out that they have a normal routine that they just seem to do on the daily around the same time.
The Rules I Live By
1) Short and Long Term Goals
If you've been following me for any amount of time you'd know by now how goal focused I am. But also understanding that those goals can in fact change quickly and being flexible enough to do so. Goals both long term and short term are a way to keep yourself in check to make sure the actions you're doing are keeping you on the path. There's many times when you'll find yourself jumping after new projects and the next shinny object. But have goals long term and short term to push you faster are key for continued growth in the direction you planned out for yourself.
2) To-Do Lists
Every day I write myself a to-do list. Normally this happens at night just before I go to bed. Things that I remember I should have maybe done, or extra projects that got piled on during the week. I also then have my normal to do list which I check often and filter out any of the fat that might be in there. My daily to do list keeps me on track but allows me to be crazy consistent which we will get to later. It also allows me to keep other things in check to optimize my time on tasks. I like the idea of breakin this down into blocks of 15 minutes or after.
Why?
15 minutes blocks at least for me keeps me on my toes and alert to the task. If I spend too much time on a task I end up getting tired of doing it and often find myself drifting into something else. By staying hyper focused on something for 15 minutes I'm able to get things done I wanted to crazy fast. Trust me there are a lot of distractions out there.
3) Exercise
This is something I've done since my late 20's While I worked out in my late teens to mid 20's it wasn't any type of regiment. Now I've continued to upscale this because a large portion of my time at the moment is at the computer.
As a side not I switch between sitting and standing at my desk I highly recommend it for anyone that's spending 4 hours or more in front of the computer.
Currently I do a 10 minute full body cardio push in the morning after I'm warmed up to get things moving and the body active. It increases my alertness and helps break up my day again. It's in that block system I have for my daily to do list.
Then later in the afternoon before dinner I'll do a good 30minutes - 1 hour of lifting or heavy cardio. On my "off" days I'll do a shorter lighter cardio for the most part along with some stretching.
You'd be surprised what adding about a hour of workout into your day does for your overall health, mind and just outlook on everything. That's only 7 hours a week or even cut that in half to start out it's 3.5 hours a week! you can do it!
4) Don't Procrastinate Short and Long
Often in the day things will come up which are either ideas or other tasks that just happen. Life happens! So instead of putting those tasks off I'll either work on them right then and then or write them down on the list and quickly come back to them after I complete my first task. This allows me to expand and still do one of the things I love the most and that's to continue to learn and grow.
5) Think and Do
Just like the above as ideas come to mind I'll often find myself fingering them out in my head. Instead of waiting to take action on it I'll simply start to hammer it out right then and there or complete a task I was doing and quickly follow up with it. Again is a huge learning experience and you'd be surprised how many times you idea fails lol. But during those failures you're learning and some of them end up turning out to huge wins. The point here is if you didn't do it they wouldn't have amounted to anything.
6) Consistent Daily
Be consistent. It's so important to stay on top of and just life style change yourself. Once you start doing it for a good week you'll start to feel adjustments in your own life. You'll start enjoying it and looking forward and planning out new tasks that add value to your daily to do.
For instance one of the ones I do right here on hive is to write a blog post every day just like this one. Most of the time it's about finance, crypto and investing. But there's times when I like to change it up a bit like I did on this one.

Right before bed is when I have the best ideas sometimes, so that makes a lot of sense to make your to-do list then.
For sure I used to keep a pen and paper next to my bed. Now I use notepad on my phone
