Metaverse and Gaming Future

The metaverse was one of the hottest topics during the lockdowns of 2020-2021 and sparked some of the larges digital sales ever even beating NFTs in many cases. Celebrities got involved big time grabbing up some of the largest ticket price lands and dropping digital merch and it was total hype.

Since then the metaverse has died out and I firmly believe whatever bit of coolness and people wanting to really do it wore off once they could start going back outside and meeting up with family and friends along with school and work. The metaverse then made sense it was a way for people to interact with each other in new ways since they couldn't do it physically at that time.

Since then crypto and stocks entered a massive bear market and the meta verse including the multi billion dollar trash Facebook has been trying to push people on has mostly died. In fact EU threw a huge metaverse party and 6 people showed up lol. There's just a total disconnect now and people don't want to be a part of that.

Does The Metaverse Have A Future?

I believe it does as it's a central hub for like minded people to join and interact with each other. However it's going to be more niche and to each game and company and not a single wide spread metaverse that everyone jumps in on. There also needs to be activity, new things and constant support but the thing is a VR digital world you jump into is the the metaverse I feel is going to take off. Instead it will be more of a digital nature with a game, NFTs, interactions and so forth in the game and the gaming environments.

Metaverse and Gaming In Detail

Following up with that I believe the metaverse will be more like a game such as Splinterlands This is where there's a core game but the metaverse are all of the digital assets. It's the real groundwork of what you would see in a triple A title such as World of Warcraft, New World, Fortnite etc. Where instead all of those assets, outfits, resources are tangible NFTs and tokens which can be freely bought and sold for real month. Now that's the metaverse and there's going to be hundreds of them.

It's also clear that these games are mainly only going to become mass adopted on feeless platforms like Wax, Hive etc for example. These platforms allow for staking of the token to have resources on chain however I suspect that the games will have the staked token and only give resources to active players when they need them.

This I believe will be the real future of the metaverse however the major issues with that will come down to taxes and reporting which is going to be one of the biggest hurdles to overcome. If that can be done in a seamless way then perhaps this could really take off. However I'm sure the government will have a say in that which will make it more and more difficult.

I think it's possible but the technology just isn't there yet. How many people have VR headsets? How many people are really building it in a way that people can actually use the assets in game? Not many because maybe making some money. I find that the metaverse was used more as a way to raise money and most of the promises did not really play out.
