The evening began for Skyla and Cynthia with a friendly visit from Skylar's friend Hector. Cynthia quickly dashed into the kitchen to fix up some light dinner since it was running late for any serious supper.

Suddenly, all she could hear from the sitting room was thunderous laughter from both Hector and Skylar. Their voices were so loud that one would think it's been amplified with a speaker.

Cynthia couldn't help but be curious and out of that curiosity, she reduced the fire on the jollof rice she was preparing and went to the sitting room to investigate what's causing all the commotion.

"Babe! Come quick, you need to hear this gist" Skylar yelled upon sighting Cynthia and beckoned on her to join them in the sitting room.

"What's going on here? What's making you guys laugh so loud?" Cynthia questioned, taking her seat close to Skylar.

"It is Hector babe," Skylar said laughing. He continued amidst laughter, "he wants to finish me with his funny women stories."

"Guy! I'm telling you, this girl ate like she's just been out of prison. You need to see how she gobbled the food, I was so disgusted and on top of it all, she spoke with a mouth full. It's like she knew I was embarrassed with her actions because next she said was, don't mind me o, I am a foodie." Immediately Hector said this, Skylar burst out laughing some more.

"So because she's a foodie, she can't obey simple table manners and observe basic table etiquette?" Cynthia questioned wearing an irritating look.

"You will calm down babe, is it not me that called you just now to join us? You don't even know how the gist started, you are already forming opinions and acting like a police officer" Skylar joked which caused all three of them to laugh.

"But she's right Skylar, what sane adult eats and talks at the same time? Not just talking, but with a full mouth and food pouring out." Hector managed to say, as he laughed so hard with tears forming by the side of his eyes.

"Maybe she was fasting before the dinner date", Cynthia added which caused another fresh series of laughter for them.

As they all had a good laugh, the jollof rice Cynthia had on the fire started smelling burnt, she quickly excused herself again to the kitchen to finish up her cooking.

Both Hector and Skylar continued their gist but this time, Hector expressed a little regret. Just like Skylar and Cynthia had a lovely relationship that transcended to marriage, Hector was also fortunate to be with Betty.

At the time Hector was with Betty, Skylar and Cynthia had just gotten engaged and they had expected Hector to pop the question to Betty too.

Disappointingly, Hector withdrew from everyone and by the time they were getting back again as friends, Hector was introducing another girl as his Fiance.

"What even happened between you and that funny girl you wanted to marry after Betty." Skylar inquired.

"Don't remind me of my misery man, sometimes I feel like it is the universe punishing me for what I did to Betty. I mean that girl didn't wrong me in any way but I guess like the saying goes, you never know what you have till it's gone".

"Hmmm, have you tried contacting Betty after the whole breakup?"

"I can't man, girl hates my gut."

"You have not contacted her but somehow she hates your guts?"

"You will not understand, Betty and I just won't happen again. She's too good for me"

Just then, Cynthia walked in to inform the guys that dinner is served. As they progressed to the dinning, Cynthia quickly chipped in, "when a man wants to fall short of God's glory, he will tag the woman that God gave him as too good for him." Turning to Skylar, she continued, "God save you Sky, you would have been entertaining hungry girls by now if you hadn't married me".

Skylar halted, causing Hector to halt too. He placed his hand on Hector's shoulder, looked him deep in the eyes, with a tightened lip he said to Hector, "continue entertaining your hungry girls bro, this one I married is the weapon fashioned against me."

Immediately Skyla said this, Hector burst out laughing and Cynthia made an attempt to hit him but he dodged and ran to the dinning. Cynthia ran after him, laughing and screaming at the top of her voice, "you will not eat in this house today."

After dinner, the couple walked Hector to his car. Cynthia stood halfway on their walkway, leaving Skylar to walk Hector to the other side of the road where his car was parked.

As Hector got into his car and slammed the door, Skylar tapped on the windscreen. He motioned on Hector to wind down which Hector did. Leaning close to Hector's ear, Skylar whispered, "we all make mistakes bro, put your ego aside and work things out with Betty. You have suffered enough in the hands of blind dates and online hookups. Do the right thing my Gee."

Skyla's words to Hector were like tranquilizers and for a few minutes, he just sat there and stirred at Skylar speechless and motionless. Seeing how stoned Hector was, Skylar just tapped on his shoulder and squeezed on it lightly, bidding him good night.

It took a while before Hector finally fired up his car engine to drive himself home. All through the time he sat motionless, he watched Skylar as he wrapped his hands around Cynthia and they both walked into their home. He thought about how it has been with Betty, how his house felt like a home with her and how the home feeling disappeared upon their break up.

It was quite a distance driving home for Hector and he had a lot of Sober reflection. Hector had always wanted a slim tall girl, one with a model figure to settle down with. Sadly for Betty, she didn't possess all that. Despite being homely, Hector could not move past her thick and short physique.

At a point on Hector's drive home, he had parked by the side of the road to reach out to Betty. Just as he was about to send a text asking if they could talk, an existing question that has always lingered in his mind came up again, "can you move past the way she looks?"

Breathing in and out heavily, Hector cleared the text he was about to send to Betty and continued on his drive home.
